Study.com ACE credit recommendations? $200 for 6 credits
#1
Hey everybody,

I am wondering if anybody has heard of this way of getting credits for their degree?

Here is the link: How to Earn College Credit from Our Courses - Study.com

I have spoken with a guy from the website and to be recognized for the credits you need to:

1) Get 100% on all of the lesson quizzes (5 questions each) -- you can re-take these quizzes until you get 100% but they only tell you what questions you got incorrect
2) Get 100% on the chapter quizzes (30 questions each) -- you can re-take these quizzes until you get 100% but they only tell you what questions you got incorrect
3) Get 70% on the final proctored exam

It costs $200 per month and you are allowed to get up to 6 credits per month this way. In email correspondence with a guy from the website (I think his name was Luke) he mentioned that they will be adding more ACE approved credits sometime in the future.

My worry is if these will transfer over to Charter Oak. I will be enrolling in the school after I have compiled all my credits via exam but I want to ensure they will let them transfer in. They are always so vague in their emails with me so I am unsure if they will recognize them.

What are your thoughts?

If they're ACE evaluated, then COSC will most likely accept the credits. Contact a COSC adviser for verification.

Keep us informed when the new courses come along.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I'm not yet enrolled in Charter Oak so in my experience I have found that they are always vauge when they answer if the will/won't accept credits.

Maybe if any students who are currently enrolled in the school could ask and provide the answer in this thread, that would be super helpful

ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training

All these courses listed are accepted at the LL through COSC. But why go through study.com at all? SL is easier and cheaper around $99 month, first course free (with coupon) . You still have to take a proctored final for both, but SL doesn't require you to get 100% on the quizzes. Also, Saylor's $25 courses for 3 credits a piece for a few that are accepted at COSC. You can check which ones in the degree plan I have in my signature below.

The thing about Study.com quizzes is you can take them over and over again until you get 100% -- and they let you know what questions you got incorrect

How does it work with Straighterline?

Straighter line doesn't let you re answer, but with any reasonable effort you should pass. I would highly recommend using the electronic version of the books for SL. The find function is a life saver.

How much are their textbooks? Aren't they over $100 each?

The used physical copies are not expensive. I would suggest buying them off amazon used and scanning them.

Call the registrar's office. When I had questions before enrolling, I called their office and they gave me answers. They will want to call you back, but tell them you will hold. Don't ask about more than a couple at a time either so you are not taking up to much of their time. You should get an answer. If they are in doubt, you can also read the info from the syllabus. If they say yes, I always write down who gave me the info, date and time on the syllabus just in a case a problem should arise down the road.
