Today I completed their orientation, which is step 1 of 5 or 6 towards induction. NSLS is right on the bandwagon with what most people online are preaching today. So far it's all the same talk you hear in business school and from motivational gurus on the internet and it has high production quality. Their main points are:
1) Leadership, management & public speaking skills, networking. "Leadership" doesn't just mean "leading a team", according to NSLS it means improving society, school or the workplace by being an inspiring person who will cause others to fulfill their own dreams and goals.
2) Volunteering in the community, improving society & physical environments by being a good and inspiring person
3) Improving your physical and mental health
4) The psychology of confidence & motivation
5) The psychology of mental calmness (meditation, mindfulness, anger management etc)
6) Stop procrastinating, putting stuff off in life or not knowing what to do with yourself. Sit down and think about what you actually want to do and go do it.
They have a bunch of motivational quotes from famous people in their video including Beyonce, Neil deGrasse Tyson, The Rock and Conan O'Brien. They have removed quotes from the Pope due to something or other he did or said that they don't agree with on a moral basis. They are really good about multiculturalism and showing multiple ethnicities and all that.
They have you answer some simple short questions and you get a very short PDF to fill out of stuff like your goals and plans. It includes SMART goal worksheets. I completed the orientation stage in less than 20 minutes.

They do have exclusive scholarships, funded by their organization and only available to members. Many of these have prerequisites such as that you have to have completed a certain number of steps towards induction. Some of them are reserved for people with volunteer positions within the organization. Some of them have high GPA (like 3.75) requirements. They do not give exceptions to the scholarship GPA requirements for disabled people. All their scholarships are also open to Masters and PhD students. I did read people in Reddit and Youtube comments who won their scholarships.
Their recommendation letter for members is copy paste which just fills in your name and the job title or degree admission you're seeking into their template. They then Email that to whoever is requesting the letter of recommendation. It looks like they will also physically mail the letter out.
Their job section has a NSLS job bank, access to "fairygodboss", the work letter recommendations noted above, and you have access to what looks like live coaches for stuff like public speaking and communication skill training. There is some stuff I can't access until my induction is complete so I'll return to that later.
They have a "mindfulness education" section which is video recordings of a lady teaching you how to meditate and audio records of teaching you how to do stuff like "be peaceful" and "mind over matter".
They have stuff about entrepreneurship in a lot of different sections on their site.
Their discount section takes you Abenity. Every single discount I checked out was worthless compared to using other sites, or were standard discounts offered everywhere online. I did actually do a cost comparison of the $3,000 trip noted above and yes it would only be around $1,500 if you did all the same stuff yourself.
