BABA in Management and Leadership course difficulty ranking
#1
I'm looking for any input on the following classes Length / Difficulty. I searched through the master thread and here is what I found. If you have any additional inputs, I'd appreciate it.
And just a Heads up to everyone.
I took SDC's BUS 301 and 309, thinking they would transfer over to UMPI's BUS 220, and BUS 330. But apparently they have changed it, and they don't anymore.
SDC's BUS 301 went away, and now my transcript says FIN 301, which doesn't transfer. UMPI requires ACC 301 now for BUS 220.
And SCD's BUS 309 transfers to something else. You need BUS 102 at SDC to get credit for BUS 330 at UMPI.

I may do another month at SDC to knock out those 2 class's and some others, based on any input I get if they are Long classes.

Here's what I need still and the difficulty / length I have found people mentioning in the comments.

ENG 101 - Short
MAT 140 - Medium
BUS 200 - Short
BUS 220 - ???? (SDC BUS 301, now FIN 301, doesn't count)
BUS 244 - Long  (still trying to get them to accept my JST that has Management Information System UL listed on it)
BUS 330 - ???? (SDC BUS 309 doesn't count anymore)
BUS 260 - Short (Still trying to get them to accept SEJPME 1 & 2, military course ACE approved)
BUS 325 - Longest
BUS 440 - Medium (must take at UMPI for MAOL)
BUS 415 - Medium (still trying to get them to accept my JST that has Operations Management UL listed on it)
BUS 335 - ???? (must take at UMPI for MAOL)
BUS 469 - Medium (must take at UMPI for MAOL)
BUS 489 - Short

You must complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI. So if they do accept your military credits, you have to take of the rest of these courses at UMPI.

Yep, I understand that.
That's why I have some UL History courses that have been rated as very Short, as the classes I would pick.

Interesting. What's your rate/MOS/grade? I'm an HM1 (Navy) and they accepted like 135 semester hours from my JST but as all elective credit, which is useless to me. Therefore, it's probably not worth the trouble to try and get credit for BUS 244 and BUS 415 unless you have an actual ACE recommended course that you took in residence for it. The UMPI Master Class Thread is now useless as well due to the move to Brightspace this term. It really should be archived and restarted at this point. Courses that were super easy and fast in Summer 2 are now tedious and long as hell (i.e.: BUS 321 and BUS 440). The BUS 309 SDC --> BUS 330 looks like an error, I'd email Barbara again for clarification on that. In the UMPI Database it still have SDC BUS 309 as equal to UMPI BUS 330. They will accept EJPME I for BUS 260 Leadership, just send Barbara your JKO certificate. EJPME II is just business elective credit at the moment, I've asked for re-evaluation but it still came back as elective, so skip that one.

If I were you, I'd do maybe 3 courses on SDC or Saylor Academy to get you course number down to exactly 10 courses required at UMPI. I'd recommend MAT 140 (or Calculus), BUS 220, BUS 244, BUS 330, and/or BUS 415 to be done at Saylor Academy or SDC depending on your preference.

Nuke Electricians Mate.
The problem is that they uploaded my JST into blocks of credits, instead of listing each class out.
My JST literally says Management Information System UL, and Operations Management UL.
But they kept saying when I was requesting credit, they couldn't see it on my transcript, I think because they were looking at what it had been transferred over as, "Nuke A school - 24 credit", "Nuke Power school - 27 credits", etc. Instead of listing each individual ACE approved course.
It's been a nightmare really trying to get credit for what I feel I "deserve".
They gave me credit for Calculus on Sophia Learning for MAT 140. But they took it away after the move to Brightspace...
They wouldn't give me credit for ENG 101 and ENG 121 even though I took them at a community college, because they were transferred over as 2.67 credit hours instead of 3....  So I took ENG 121 at SDC.
And this SDC BUS 301 and BUS 309 thing that just happened is really killing me. Spent like 20 hours on each of those courses doing the quizes, assignments, and exam; and now being told I can't get credit.
For BUS 330, they said I have to take SDC's BUS 102 now...
and for BUS 220, I have to take SDC's ACC 301.
So I probably will sign up for another month of SDC and take both those.

So you're saying that BUS 440 at UMPI is now super Long?
Any other classes from Brightspace you have input on?

Bruh, you are a Nuke and have been at this since January? Why didn't you enroll before now? You could have knocked out most of these in one tern before BrightSpace came along and kinda wrecked most of the speed and ease. Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't bother fighting with UMPI in regards to your JST courses. They don't understand the Nuke Power School program in the same way that Navy partner schools like Thomas Edison (TESU) do. Why don't you try for the BS in Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Technology from TESU instead?

You can continue to fight with Barbara and the UMPI Registrar in regards to these course equivalencies but it's going to take a lot of effort on your part and a long time of waiting for the faculty to even look at your requests. UMPI is a super small school and it isn't very military friendly to be honest. I'm still waiting for them to invoice my Navy TA from Summer 2 Term, so I can get my FA refund, but the woman in charge of that can't be bothered to do her job (I've called her many times). She acts like it's a burden on her to maintain the Navy AIM portal credentials, even though, you know, it's her damn job.

Regardless, I know you are probably a great test taker, so forget SDC and do Saylor Academy instead. It's only $5 per exam try and you can skim the material and probably educated guess your way to a 70% tbh. I'm an BA Accounting and BABA Management and Leadership double major. I think that you should do the following two courses at Saylor Academy:

BUS105: Managerial Accounting (BUS 220 at UMPI)
BUS206: Management Information Systems (BUS 244 at UMPI)

Then take the following 10 courses at UMPI:

ENG 101
MAT 140
BUS 200
BUS 325
BUS 330
BUS 335
BUS 415
BUS 440
BUS 469
BUS 489

This would maximize your time and minimize the frustration. Unless you wanted to get another minor or add another BABA concentration like Accounting. Then I'd suggest something totally different. But seriously, why aren't your trying to go to TESU for the ABET Nuclear programs. You could probably transfer in most of the damn degree and just do the capstone/cornerstone plus a few TECEPs or something.

You also must complete a certain number of courses in your major at UMPI.

At least 30 credits must be taken at UMPI
At least 12 credits in the major/minor must be taken at UMPI
At least 9 UL credits in the major/minor must be taken at UMPI

BUS 325- Finished this session and it was definitely time consuming. Took me the longest of any course so far. There are 7 milestones (3 are PowerPoints) plus a 15ish-minute PowerPoint (with voiceover) presentation for the final.

BUS 330- Taking that now. I heard last session was one of the quickest with an easy exam, now it's a 12-15 page marketing plan with 6 milestones. Most of milestones are 2 full pages minimum- SINGLE SPACED. Alot of writing. It's taken me at least half the time BUS 325 did though.

BUS 415- Also taking it now and it has 3 milestones plus a 10-page paper. They updated the terrible case study from last session which is good.

I took BUS 244 at Saylor, it wasn't difficult. Neither were BUS 260 & BUS 335 at UMPI, I actually liked both those classes (Summer session tho)

I've heard BUS 489 is not short with 13 milestones.

Thank you for the detailed reply.
Would you be able to say how many hours for each of those classes of actual work it took?
I know for the SDC courses I finished 5 of them in 15 days, but that was working 12 hours each day, no breaks.

There's a 5/month limit for Study.com, you should go at a comfy pace... going a bit too fast and no break would cause burnout and may cause you to stall later on.
