Right, how would they calculate it though? Or would each individual school be different? The credits that are bad are over 15 years old. Pierpont is saying they will still accept the old credits. How does a school like TESU treat those?
You're looking at it wrong. When your new "clean" credits appear on your Pierpont transcript (I use the word transcript to mean your record with them) there is no change to the credit. Since Pierpont is simply transferring in the credits earned (not grades) they've said they'll accept them for THEIR AAS DEGREE. Your old grades aren't changed or over-written by earning an AAS from Pierpont.
If or when you apply to a school for a bachelor's you have to send everything - the only reason to send your AAS transcript is if you earn credit with them. Wherever you apply for your bachelor's degree doesn't care that you earned a degree, they are evaluating credits - so they'll want all your old credits. BUT, again, since you'll be transferring them, no grades will come over. Then, you'll have a new bachelor's degree with new GPA. Hypothetically, if you dropped out of wherever you were earning your bachelor's and went somewhere else, you'd do it all again- everything to the new school. If you took more classes, you'd add that to the list.
(in my son's case, since he won't have Pierpont credit, there is nothing new for a new college to evaluate- they'll still need all the old/original credit) Does that make sense?

Sorta. You're right, the way I was looking at it is that they would be going with the GPA from the AAS (which would obviously be higher due to dropping the bad courses). I didn't think about them taking every credit from each school and creating an overall GPA between 3-4 different schools.

Every new school will require all the old transcripts. They will check with the National Student Clearinghouse to make sure they have them all, and you'll have to provide it, even if all you took there was a PE course. This may come up for the Pierpont AAS people if Pierpont reports the degree to NSC which causes future grad or undergrad schools to insist on a transcript Pierpont won't provide. They are going to have to fix this.
Edit: It occurs that to me it would be another kind of bad if they DON'T report the degree to NSC. If you claim the degree and a future school (or maybe employer) tries to verify you attended Pierpont, and can't, you could stand accused of academic fraud.

Unfortunately, they do not report to NSC, if you did not earn credit there. I have an active account with NSC, through one of my existing B&M colleges. Although I am a 2017 graduate of Pierpont's AAS program, my NSC record shows nothing, not hide nor hair of anything to do with Pierpont. Every other college that I have ever attended in the past 20 years is on there. Not Pierpont. When I asked Nancy about this, via email, she replied....... "i f you only graduated from Pierpont but did not take classes from here, you likely will not show up in the Clearinghouse. "

This is the issue "the letter" from Nancy is supposed to fix, but doesn't (at least in the case of WGU).

It sounds more and more like folks here need to treat Pierpont as if they had a 1 credit residency requirement. Not having access to a transcript is really not viable.

I thought about picking up one credit from them, just in case. However, I have completed two more degrees at other institutions since I finished at Pierpont. Although I am grateful for my Pierpont AAS, I must say that it is becoming less and less likely that I will need the transcript for anything.

And if you already have the 12 RA credits that it requires, I believe it still remains the lowest cost Associate Degree option (that offers a transcript)

That's assuming that they have a 1cr online course you can take for $490. If they don't, then it's 2cr or even 3cr (so $980 or $1470). I don't even know if there are additional fees either. I found 2 1cr courses (Intro to Health Careers and Explore Career Opps in Human Services). And 2 2-cr courses (ASL and EMT). And they are semester-based. So your chances of getting a quick and easy 1cr course at a convenient time just went out the window. You can assume that even if you apply and send your transcripts, and have all of the requirements met, you're going to need a minimum of 5 months to get your course done; so you're 6 months and at least $490 for a degree there, assuming you're near the beginning of the semester. Add potentially several months to that if you are past the time you can add the course.
The fees at COSC of $712, plus the cornerstone of $1224 puts the COSC AA (assuming you have 57cr that will transfer into the right places) is $1936. And we KNOW that you can get the COSC cornerstone course entirely online practically whenever you want it (8-week course starting 6x per year).
EC's AA in BALS is $3000 including the capstone and fees. They seem to be a bit more flexible than COSC on requirements.
So, I guess it just depends - do you have more time or money?
