Trying to figure out why this tesc course is listed twice on the equivalency list. Does it require 4 fema's (701a/775, 22/55) to gain 1 credit? Or only one pair? Does this limit the free elective quota to 26 then?

Courses with 199, 299, 399, and 499 are generic codes that TESC's system uses to classify courses into a subject area that don't fit into their system of named courses. If you follow their guide you may end up with EDM-199 appearing more than once but not duplicating since the credit is different. My transcript has EDM-199 on it twice and instead of a shortened name for the course it reads "Spec. Stud. in Selected Topics". Instead of trying to name the combined course they just use their system's built in flexibility to number with the appropriate level and area. So those paired courses will do what they promise for you. Don't let duplicate numbering scare you unless it is something other than a "99" course code.

Thank you cooperalex2004, you explained my confusion perfectly. I have taken the 31 courses but was curious about the duplication and others stating up to "27" free electives at tesc.

The count changes when TESC updates their list or when FEMA updates their site and goes to a new number or letter (.a/.b) for their course.

Has FEMA changed the way the courses are presented? When I did my FEMAs ~3years ago, I opened a searchable PDF document and got a seperate answer sheet. My friend just tried for the first time and said they are like training modules...?

The newest iterations are moving to a guided study video presentation model. You have interactive portions and the final at the end. You can still skip the video and go right to the quiz I believe, but the linked pdf's are usually gone.

in some cases certainly. The videos do tend to be concise and one can still work through a course quickly. It will still be a few years before all the courses are converted.

I actually like the new concept, when I assign or encourage someone to take a FEMA IS course they just click play and take off....much less daunting than reading through a 200 page text with multiple appendices.

I agree with rebel. Although many people do not do the courses and just search the PDF for the answer. If you are trying to beat the system by not learning anything that way may be good, but then you are watering down the credibility of FEMA courses and colleges even TESC will accept less of them. In my opinion sitting through the videos and taking the quizzes still took less time then I would put into other credit methods and it was still free credit.
