Disaster Information Specialist, Advanced Level II (Certificate) using FEMA IS Course
#1
OK, fellow disaster geeks here is another opportunity to use those FEMA IS courses.

The MLA Disaster Information Specialization, developed by Medical Library Association (MLA) and the National Library Medicine (NLM), offers training in providing access to information for disaster and emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.

•Disaster Information Specialist, Advanced Level II (Certificate)
•Disaster Information Specialist, Basic Level I (Certificate)
Medical Library Association (MLA), Chicago, IL
National Library of Medicine Disaster Information Management Research Center.
MLA : Professional Development : Specializations

1…..You do NOT need to join.
2…..one time cost of $75 nonmember fee will cover both levels submitted in the first year.

Disaster Information Specialist, Basic Level I (Certificate), 15 contact hours
•Disaster Health Information Sources: The Basics, FREE, 3-Hours online course
•U.S. Response to Disasters and Public Health Emergencies, FREE, 3-Hours online course
•Information Roles in Disaster Management, FREE, 3-Hours online c
•FEMA IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS), an Introduction, FREE, 3-Hours online
•FEMA IS-100.b - Introduction to Incident Command System, FREE, 3-Hours online course

Disaster Information Specialist, Basic Level I (Certificate), 12-Hours (27-total contact hours)

See link below.
https://disasterinfo.nlm.nih.gov/dimrc/d...culum.html

In total 9 hours (34%) of their FREE online three courses and 18 hours (67%) of FEMA IS courses that I had already completed.

I paid on one day. I then took the three online courses. I then submitted for both levels in two different online applications and all within one week. I received the Disaster Information Specialist, Basic Level I (Certificate) in less than a month. They only do them at the end of the month I am told.
