Nervous about SS&H Exam...Suggestions?
#1
Monday is my last day of class and I graduate. I have until next week to take the Social Science and History Clep exam to stay on schedule for commencement. However, my problem is that I do not memorize (History) in short time frames well. I am super nervous, I have the one shot to get this right. I have read the forums but I guess I am hoping someone can give a miracle answer to my worries. For those who have taken the exam, any suggestions? I am literally scared of this exam.

Thank you.

Keep in mind that you don't need to memorize, you just need to be able to recognize the right answer. I know it's still scary, but trust me, when you study, the answers will be in your brain even if you think you're not memorizing.

Have you identified your learning style? There are three types of learners: visual, kinesthetic, and auditory. If you're not sure, perhaps you can use a variety of techniques to engage all of the senses in learning. I'm kinesthetic, so I need to type lots of notes. I don't really ever read through the notes I type, I just have to type things up. It's a way for me to "feel" the information. You can also record yourself reading through the IC cards or whatever else you're using. Listen to yourself. Watch a documentary on the subjects your studying, this could help you visualize better. Then go back and study and it could be easier to picture what you're doing.

It may not be your memory - you just may not have the right learning technique for your learning style. Try something different and you may be surprised.

Good luck!!

Thank you so very much. I really only remember the material well that I have hand written. I later recall and visualize it. The problem is that there is so much material, there is no way I can write it all out and remember. However, after reading your post and another post, I think I will take the advice of watching the History channel. That should help me learn since it is visual and hearing as you have advised. Again thank you. This should really help.

For US History I I watched about 10 hours of video on Netflix and then read the REA book, then did iPhone flashcards, then did instantcert, then petersons Smile
