Questions - Credit sources and transfer
#1
I want to take most of the credit from StraightLine instead of CLEP, DSST or other credit exams.
Because SL is cheaper and come with all study materials.

I just curious will the source of credit shown on the degree transcript.

I just worry about that SL is not as accredit as the CLEP & DSST.

Thank you

I am non-US resident, planning to get a BSBA Accounting in TESC

I want to know the cost for the credit transfer for these sources. (TESC EXAM, Excelsior Exam, SL, CLEP and DSST)

I tried the cost calculator in TESC Thomas Edison State College | Cost Calculator
But I was confusing which option should I choose.

In addition, will Excelsior cheaper than TESC or depends?

Thanks

None of them are accredited. All of them are ACE-recommended for college credit. ACE is not an accreditor. The source of the credit will be on the TESC and Excelsior transcript. SL does not come with all of the study materials. You have to purchase the book. The book is not required, but you will have a hard time completing the course without it. SL is only cheaper if you can finish multiple courses in a month. There are plenty of cheap and free study materials for CLEP/DSST.

TESC will be the cheapest option if you choose the Per Credit Tuition Plan. Under this plan, there is a 24-credit residency requirement, but it can be met by taking 8 TECEPs at $111 each. There is no enrollment fee under this plan. Neither Excelsior nor TESC charge for transferring credits. They have enrollment fees or residency requirements depending on which tuition plan you choose.

Purchasing a used textbook from Amazon and taking a CLEP or DSST is cheaper than Straighterline and the credits are more likely to be accepted outside the Big 3. Your source of credit will show as Straighterline regardless of which college you choose TESC/Excelsior.

I tried out the calculator. It showed the following:

Testing Tuition (72 credits @ $36) = $2592

Is that their estimate of what it would cost to test out of that many credits? If so, it needs to be subtracted from the total if the credits are already in place.

In addition, I just found that the maximum credit transfer for TESC is 80
which is my situation. ( Thomas Edison State College: Transfer credit earned at other colleges and universities to Thomas Edison State College )

Is this include Credits from DSST/ CLEP/ SL/ etc as well
