I was wondering what Excelsior gives you credit for if you pass the Social Sciences and History CLEP...do you just get 6 elective credits or something more specific? Also, while we're on the 6 credit exam subject...how about the same question for the Humanities CLEP?

I got the categories all screwed up. I need 6 credits in Human Civilization and 6 credits in human thought...what cleps do I need to take? I am currently scheduled to take Introduction to Religion...but if I don't need it or it won't count toward my requirements I don't want to take it.
Would someone please make heads or tail of this for me…recommend the easiest cleps or Dantes.

Am taking the Dantes test on Aug 26th. I am told that it is a pencil and paper test. Does anyone know how many questions, what an average passing score is, etc? I have never taken a Dantes test before.

Hi,

I just wanted to get some study advice on the Humanites CLEP from those of you who have taken it. I have access to instacert.com, Peterson's, REA and Princeton's. I did very well on the Peterson's exams today 98% on fine art and 68% on literature. I do have trouble recognizing passages from poetry since I not too familar with that subject. I know a lot about dance and art history (I've had to brush up on it), music history I'm doing better on. I know some SHakespeare, etc.

I guess what I am asking is...is it enough to keep taking the practice exams and reading the explanations or should I really know the subjects in depth outside of the practice exams? Will questions pop-up that I don't know if I just use the study exams?

Any guidance you can give me is appreciated since this is also my very first CLEP.

I tried to access the Peterson practice tests and the website had a registration form. So I filled that out and now it says I need an activation code. Anyone run into this?

From my experience, pressing "ALT+LEFT_ARROW" is the guaranteed way to go back on your browser regardless of what your cursor is doing.

So when I'm playing around with the test-engine, I don't like to take my hands off the keyboard either, so if I absolutely have to go back one screen, I'll use ALT+LEFT ARROW to go back, and then CTRL+R to refresh...

I just checked the Excelsior site, and the exam content guides have been updated. Most now quote chapter and verse for looking up objectives in the recommended texts. Very Nice. There is also a little time frame recommendation box to help you see how much time it should take.

Yes, my friends, in just seven short weeks (44 days), that's all! At least it was a pass, just barely... with a whopping 48!! I used the IC for this and the UL Ethics Theory and Practice (I got a B on this one... figure that one out). Still pressing on with studying for World Pop, sure would be nice if there was more IC guides for the ECEs (hint hint). I have 4 more test results out there somewhere but God only knows how long those will take. It seems this process would be faster with all the technology we have available to us. Oh well, gotta get back to studying. Lee

I took a practice exam this morning for Fundamentals, and it scared me to death. I scored 31 out of 50 and there was so much about theorists on it, as well as specific statistics regarding suicide, alcohol.

I'm not sure about this aspect either....I copied and pasted my answers on a word document, because I wasn't sure I could access my test score and answers again on the site the same way I do with practice Cleps.

Any new thoughts on this exam in general?

Also how do the getcollegecredit.com Peterson's practice tests compare to the real thing? There were only 50 questions. I would have to pay another 19.95 get another version of the test. Ack! I can take the one I took this morning again.

I thought I would be fine with this exam, because I have some counseling background, as well as an interest in the subject, plus have taken a lot of social science courses. I'm just not sure what to think. Feeling pretty jittery about it...lots of other life stuff going on too.

Just yell at me or something, not sure what I need here. I may be "weirding out" as I reach the end of my testing out road. :confused:
