Principles of Marketing - CLEP - REA book
Posted by: swthing64 - 06-02-2006, 09:48 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (11)

I am scheduled for the Marketing CLEP in two weeks. I have been utilizing IC along with the REA CLEP Principles of Marketing book. I did the first practice test last night and scored a 68%. I'm really not too surprised since some of the questions seemed pretty silly and with the process of elimination, it was easy to pick out the correct answer. Is this typical of the REA books? This is my first time using a REA book. Are they typically known to be a decent study guide for a CLEP exam?

Also, if anyone has taken the Marketing CLEP, do you recall how many/how much I'll need to know about markups and markdowns (percentages, etc.)? Should I really study those formulas hard or just know the basics?

Thank you.

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if anyone can help me. Thomas Edison has just computerized some of thier exams through ACT, has anyone taken any yet? I am scheduled to take the Psychology of Women in July.

This will be my first TECEP test and I am wondering how other people have prepared for them. Online, the practice test (only 20 questions) has some suggested reading material, but they are the complete $100.00 text books (overkill in my opinion).

Any suggestions would be beneficial.

Thanks,

  I am a stoopid !@#$%^-+* & I ??HATE accouting
Posted by: adrian - 06-01-2006, 05:17 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (10)

Ok so I went and take CLEP Principles of Accounting earlier today. I thought it was going to be ok cause I studied real hard. Boy was I in for a shock! It was very very difficult!! I studied hard using IC notes. Had 78 questions and 1.30.
I did NOT have time to finish. I think I left like 10 questions unanswered and probably just click away on at least 10 others.
Needless to say I thought I failed but I'll never know
I chose to NOT report my score. I did this because I am quite positive I didn't pass and also I thought I can take it b4 the 6 month period.
I was wrong! Even though I did not report it I still can't take it for 6 months!!!
This is CRAP!!!!!!!!! ARRGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I'm fully depress now. Sad
I need some other notes. I have to admit IC did not come through this time around. I am questioning if it's even worth $19/month I pay to this site anymore. Sad
What other sites are good for helping me prepare for Accouting ? i hate accounting BTW. I rather get poke in the retina by a hot soldering iron than to take 2 regular classes of accounting which this exam woulda taken care of had I pass with flying colors.

Whew!
That was a close one...WARNING: It is a tough test! I scored a 51...My Army AARTS transcript does not tell me what the recommended passing score is, but it does say "Recommended credit: 3 Upper Level BACCALAUREATE", so I am assuming I passed...

Anyway, does anyone know what the passing score is for R&F of the USSR?

I take "History of Nazi Germany" today. All I have to do is PASS, then pay Excelsior $1100.00 and I will receive have my BA! Woo-Hoo!

  A little stressed
Posted by: libartsmgr - 05-31-2006, 10:15 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (11)

So, here's the latest on my own situation...I just have to share...

I'm at EC and I'm in the liberal arts program. However, I have a lot of past experience in the technology arena. In fact, back in 2003, I took an ICCP exam that, at the time, was worth 18 credits. Then, after I took it, ICCPs weren't accepted any longer - that hurt. So it took me a while to get back in to it and when I did, I went liberal arts simply because it's so diverse and that makes it easier to complete the degree using just exams.
Turns out that back in OCTOBER, EC started accepting ICCP credits again, but only posted this fact on their Technology school page. I just happened to be looking at it last night and saw this little fact.
Here's what makes the situation a wee-bit frustrating. I busted my hump getting tons of applied professsional credits completed so that I could then finish my LAST 9 hours of Arts and Sciences, all by a deadline that would keep me from having to pay an additional fee to graduate. HOWEVER, if I had know that ICCP's were being accepted again, I maybe could have avoided having to take those other exams (exasperating!).
I'm now asking them to reveiw it for me, just to see if maybe it helps in any way, shape or form but I doubt it.

So the moral of the story is: count EVERYTHING and re-check things that are not accepted often, becuase you don't want to get stealth'ed and have to take extra exams!!!!
