Excelsior and Clep Eng Comp w/ essay?
Posted by: bxwhitse - 06-03-2006, 11:01 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

Can anyone who has dealt with Excelsior advise me on how they handle this exam, in light of it not satisfying their written English requirement? Seems like it would be duplicate credit for any classes fulfilling that requirement, and not be counted. Thanks.

  Excelsior College Transcripts
Posted by: ShotoJuku - 06-03-2006, 06:52 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (14)

Has anyone ever received a completed (post degree) transcript from EC?

If so, does it just list the class/course taken such as "Biology - A" -OR- "CLEP Exam - Biology - A" like it does in the status results page?

Thanks!!

  CLEP Macroeconomics
Posted by: mrezas - 06-03-2006, 04:59 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (39)

Any one who has taken Macroeconomics, will you please tell me if studying IC flash cards is enough to pass the test. I don’t have any knowledge in economics courses but need to pass it within 10 days.

Thanks

Ray

An Irish Greeting from the Irish Coast,

Any study guide or study tip recommendations for this DANTES exam? Is there any on-line information available?

Has anyone taken this exam? I could have sworn I saw flashcards for this one out on InstantCert.

Thanks.

  Excelsior UL credits?
Posted by: bxwhitse - 06-02-2006, 08:20 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Does Excelsior require any UL credits outside of the 12 required in the business major? I've scanned the catalog over and can't seem to find an answer. I'm wanting to enroll at the end of the year and just want to plan accordingly. Thanks Smile .

Question about Excelsior and post-graduate universities
Posted by: Back2School - 06-02-2006, 03:33 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (17)

I'm now seriously considering going the Excelsior or Thomas Edison route to finish my degree (holding jr. level credits at southern il university).

Knowing there are many people on this board going that way I wanted to ask a question. Has anyone here been accepted (or denied) entrance into a masters program at good university?

I'm not talking harvard or yale of course... I'm talking a university the calibre of University of Illinois, Purdue University or Boston University.

My concern is that these colleges simply won't accept students into their graduate program if the degree from one of these other colleges.

Anyone out there got some experience in this matter?

  Took microeconomics clep today
Posted by: Back2School - 06-02-2006, 03:24 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (8)

Passed with a 69!!! Big Grin

IMO, it was definitely harder and the questions were trickier than the macroeconomics. I got a 76 on the macro and was done in about an hour. With the micro I went right to the final minute and was a little nervous pressing that proceed button.

As far as advice goes, the Peterson's tests really helped me a bunch and I took the 'official' one from the clep book as well. The questsions from instantcert was also very helpful. I'd also add that the Economics text book by samuelson really was critical for me getting my brain around the content in both tests. I didn't necessarily read every page word for word but I think it would have been hard to get a 76 and 69 by just doing the questions and study guides.

Good luck to everyone!

  DANTES Here's to your health
Posted by: GRAD06? - 06-02-2006, 03:05 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (13)

I just got done taking the DANTES, Here's to your health. Instacert definately helped me take this test. Almost all of the questions weere in the study materials of this site.

I will know the results in 10 days. I paid an extra $20 to find out pass or fail in 10 days. Better than waiting for 6-8 weeks.

I will let you all know how I did. Now it is time to study for Ethics in America.

  DANTES going virtual...
Posted by: bxwhitse - 06-02-2006, 12:59 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (45)

I didn't see where anyone else had posted about this, so I thought I'd share the news: Prometric is running a pilot Dantes internet based testing program at select sites accross the country. Today I took Organizational Behavior on-line, at Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, VA, and the interface was about like CLEP tests are. You can mark questions for review, then at anytime during the exam or at the end you can go back and review them. And getting that score at the end was AWESOME. According to the proctor the following exams are also available through them, with others becoming available later:

Criminal Justice
Drug and Alcohol Abuse
Environment and Humanity
Here's to Your Health
Intro to World Religions
Intro to Business
Principals of Financial Accounting
