EC Cultural Diversity, any help? |

Hello,
So I've signed up to take Excelsior Cultural Diversity exam beginning next month, after reading it was one of the easiest EC exams, but I'm a little worried now. My cohort just took the exam using the notes from the Specific Feedback section and got a C. He's one of those people who reads through InstantCert the night before for 2-3 hours then passes the exams with a high score. So him getting a C has me worried. (He did admit that he didn't look up anything in more detail and may have gone through the notes a little too quickly.)
Does anyone have any other feedback/information to help with this exam??
I'm starting to wonder if it's worth the extra study time. It's not a requirement so maybe I should drop it for another CLEP/DSST...

Well I am finally done and my degree has conferred and I received my diploma in the mail. I just wanted to post a few recommendations from what I learned.
I will not post all my courses because you can search to find out which order to take the ECE's to get maximum benefit. I also found it easier to take my Math courses at a local college because of the tutor's and in class instruction because I really wanted to be good at Math for my job. Also try to plan it so when you finish your degree it is before the yearly fee that Excelsior charges. Remember they charge 500$ every year and then a 500$ graduation fee. I finished right before I had to pay my yearly fee and got to pay my yearly fee which rolled over to my graduation fee and I actually got a check sent to me for 95$ instead of shelling out cash to graduate.
Also I am applying to be a Pilot in the USAF. My 08' grad class was 38% military so there is a lot of guys and gals in the military that go to EC. I was in the USAF for 4 years and got out to get my degree and go to flight school. I am applying to flight school for the military and will find out in the next year if I am selected.
Just remember that you are worth a lot and to try your best to achieve greatness. You won't find it unless you dig deep. You are more than you know and can achieve more than you can dream of. Everyone is great, you just have to work hard and have faith that you have what it takes to succeed. So I wish everyone the best and ever upward in your lives and career.
Also, check out some of the alumni of EC. Some of them are amazing. Doctors, lawyers, generals, scientists, you name it. It seems EC is a great stepping stone for further achievements. Again I wish you all the best and I will try to visit the forum but please send me any questions if you have any.
Ever Upwards,
Casey

On November 28, I rushed to apply for 4 FEMA credits at FCC in order to met the Dec 1 Deadline so I could have my credits sent to Excelsior before the end of the year.
I paid $240.00 for the four credits.
I had already spoken to the EC advisors a couple of times (latest being Dec 5th friday afternoon at 3:45p) and they said I had room for 4 more FEMA credits.
Then an hour later I received an email in my EC inbox stating that after I take my College Math and Humanities (which are must take Exams) I will no longer be needing those 4 FEMA Credits. Great and not so great in that I have already spent $240 to have the Fema credit converted.
FCC have not yet sent these credits to either I or Excelsior do you think....they might be able to refund me my $240.00?
I called them to find out...the lady that answered said they have already processed it even if the transaction has not showen on my Bank Card, but she said I should call back on Monday because Amy the person that handles all the transcation was out.
I hate to think that I will end up loosing $240.00
Thanks Mapalo

New: Failed English Comp. Biology next? |

I'm 24 years old and new to college. I'm interested in getting a higher degree (a master's or doctorate), and the thought of taking two years to get my associate's degree sounds frightening. I left school in the 7th grade and I haven't had any schooling since. Before my first CLEP, I hadn't had a test since I took the GED five years ago, and the reading & writing COMPASS assessment tests at my college (which I got perfect scores on).
I heard about CLEP and it sounded like the perfect way to make my first two years of college go by quicker. I rushed out and took freshman college comp. with no studying and no advice from anyone. I really thought I was going to pass, and it was going to be great because it was going to satisfy both of my english credits.
The test was HARD. I had no idea how to search for reference material, and no idea how to cite sources. This killed me, I think. I scored 59. Although this well over the standard passing score, my college requires a score of 60. I literally cried.
Now I'm getting nervous about attending college next month, and I really need something to boost my confidence and get me back on track. I was thinking of beginning to study for the Biology CLEP which would test me out of all my biology credits for the first two years of school. I want to begin studying mid-December, and take the test mid-January, before I have my classes to study for.
What do you think? I've been reading the forum and the general thought seems to be that the Biology CLEP is hard, but for some reason I think it's a good next step for me.
I do plan to re-take the english comp in the summer, and I am still very upset that I failed at just under one point.
