WES Canada recognizes ENEB/Isabel

(01-03-2023, 10:44 PM)JPN Wrote: WES Canada is independent of WES US, and WES is actually considered one of the more reasonable evaluators in Canada (with BCIT ICES considered the harshest). I noticed this when I was considering UK masters options and visiting immigration forums to see the results of other accreditation. It seems immigration consultants overwhelmingly recommend WES, partly because they're faster than others.

For example, WES considers Level 7 diplomas in the UK to be equivalent to a post-graduate diploma, whereas IQAS refuse to evaluate Level 7s.

Here are some more WES Canada evaluations:

https://badges.wes.org/Evidence?i=de822f...75&type=ca

https://badges.wes.org/Evidence?i=7b074b...b2&type=ca

https://badges.wes.org/Evidence?i=757361...b3&type=ca

https://badges.wes.org/Evidence?i=435ad3...07&type=ca

So yes, ENEB (at least the Spanish program) is likely equivalent to a Master's degree in Canada.

I did not notice this before, but WES has wording on the awarding of degrees by a university on behalf of a affiliated centre (of which ENEB is one).

Quote:
If you have a Título de Máster completed at a centro adscrito but awarded by a university, WES requires an official confirmation of award letter or título sent directly by the awarding university.

Do not send original documents. WES does not require any original documents to process a credential evaluation report. Documents that you submit for evaluation will not be returned and will be destroyed by WES at its sole discretion.

Source: https://applications.wes.org/required-do...alse&lan=0

Based on this, it appears that these graduates convinced Universidad Isabel I to send the documents directly to WES Canada? Which I don't think I've seen a forum member successfully do prior.
How do you find these badge links? I've had a look, but the only pages I find just exain the concept of the badge...

Can this be done for other countries, or just Canada?

Thanks for your help!

It only works for WES as they're the only ones that issue such a Credly badge. WES only serves Canada and US. If there's another type of evaluation you're looking for, I'm not sure how to search for them systematically. Maybe others would know.

On the Credly badge page, the link to the evaluation/evidence is at the bottom of the page. Example: https://www.credly.com/badges/732957a6-7...919edeef05

I found these with a Google Search: search "Verified International Academic Qualifications AND ENEB site:linkedin.com".

Still waiting on AES. They accepted my documentation.

AES is a NACES member. If they give us a more favorable ruling then WES, then WES can be forgotten about.

One thing I've noticed about the evaluation with these badges and what may have been the difference between WES USA giving UI1/ENEB a nonaccredited evaluation vs Canada giving them an accredited evaluation is that WES USA listed ENEB as the institution while WES Canada listed Universidad Isabel I. If a WES evaluator acknowledges Universidad Isabel I here in the USA over ENEB, they will likely follow WES Canada's recommendation and give it full recognition.

I did not know that WES had a Credly badge system. Since Credly is more of a validation-type credential service to showcase one's professional development as well as academic achievement, WES may become a bit more relaxed with schools from foreign countries using partnerships between institutions to award degrees. Graduating from an accredited program or institution is a criterion to get the badge so this allows "propio" programs to receive a positive evaluation in the badge system.

Hmm, that's pretty awesome for Canadians, I guess.  I just randomly used the first link above and it shows that lady completed the ENEB and did the evaluation November 2022.  That's pretty recent for an evaluation, it's within 3 months... https://www.credly.com/badges/072f2342-3...in_profile

I wouldn't be surprised if WES USA and WES Canada have been following these forums to see how much business they are losing from their competitors in evaluating Master Propio degrees from ENEB over the past couple of years as a non-accredited evaluation does not help. ENEB mentioned in an email that they have a digital partnership with WES to deliver documents for foreign credential evaluations which suggests to me that due to their partnership, WES will probably evaluate ENEB more favorably than they did initially.

WES Digital Partnership is just an account that institutions can register for to digitally transmit documents to WES. It doesn't really indicate anything.

https://www.wes.org/digital-partnership-form/

I think you may be reading too much into this. WES is a huge FCE and wouldn't really benefit from a handful more of evaluations from Propio degrees.

I'm not sure why there is so much apphrension around the idea that WES US and Canada are seperate business units and focus on comparative evaluation for different educational accreditation systems. Canada itself has a huge private institutional training sector where individual programs are not accredited provincially but by colleges of practice and occupational licensing bodies, and academic institutions are given broad discretion under their accreditations.

I feel like many of you are taking weird leaps to try and engineer a more favourable evaluation. I really don't think there's some big conspiracy at play, and seeking other NACES evaluator opinions will probably be a far more reasonable path forward.

If there is a WES Canada evaluation that is posted to DF, the statement of comparability would be far more invaluable for understanding the circumstances behind this evaluation (i.e. how it compares to the Canadian system) than speculation about a profit-seeking conspiracy. Perhaps @ashkir, who has recently done a WES US evaluation, can shed light into what his statement of comparability states for relative comparison too.

Ok that makes sense....   I think ashkir's evaluation will be from another NACES evaluator.     I don't think all of this is a conspiracy for more money but at the same time, I'm sure WES does research results from other evaluation companies.   It is all so arbitrary and it not only depends on the company but also on the individual evaluator.

messaged 5 people on Linkedin, and got 4 responses.
#1: I received a voice message which was a bit unclear, but here's what I understood. Eneb will send both document (ENEB + Isabel) to WES Canada by mail. The envelope has to be unopened with the school's seal on it. ENEB will print the official Isabel seal and apparently put it on them. I think the cost for everything (seal, transcript, mail) was around 250$ 2-3 years ago.
#2: quote: "Eneb will send their certificates to Wes and you will have to upload the ones from Universidad to Wes website.
Eneb charge a fee of $50 usd to send the certificates on your behalf.
#3: quote: "it was everything online since it was during the pandemic. I sent both diplomas tough. It was around $300 usd.
He used Isabel for "Name of the Institution" when applying to WES
#4 was not helpful

I have both, Canadian and USA evaluation for my German Bachelor degree:
Under "equivalency summary" Canada lists the degree as "Bachelor (4years), whereas Usa indicates that the Bachelor "is from a regionally accredited institution".
The "status" of the institution is shown as "recognized institution" for Canada, but "Accredited Institution" for Usa

I have added a snapshot of a WES Canada evaluation for Eneb

So your American WES evaluation says that your ENEB degree is equivalent to "regionally accredited"? What does it consider the degree? A Master's? Or a Bachelor's?

And when did you receive this evaluation?
