Twitter freaks out over person with many degrees
#1
A couple of days ago on X/Twitter, this post went viral for showing someone on LinkedIn who's earned a ton of college degrees, many from ivies.

This caused a lot of commotion on the website. Opinions on this educational background were extremely mixed. On one hand, one of the most common responses from others was that they'd do the same if they had the money. On the other hand, one of the other most common responses was that he's wasting time, avoiding stepping into the real world, has a ton of debt, etc. A few people immediately identified who the profile belonged to.

The following day, the man whose LinkedIn was shown responded. As it turns out, he's the 29 year-old co-founder and CEO of Crimson Education, Jamie Beaton. The company's account posted a short-form video on his behalf.

  • 2016 Harvard - BA Applied Mathematics-Economics and Applied Math

  • 2022 Oxford - PhD Public Policy (Rhodes Scholar)
  • 2022 Tsinghua - MA Global Affairs
  • 2023 UPenn - MA Education Entrepreneurship
  • 2023 Yale - JD
His JD took 3 years to complete. This means that during his legal studies at Yale, he tackled 1 doctorate and 2 masters degrees.
University of Wyoming
JD Candidate - 1L (Class of 2027)
LexisNexis Certificates - Statutory Law, Real Estate, Secondary Sources, Corporate/M&A, Bankruptcy, Artificial Intelligence, Labor & Employment, Case Law, Litigation

Hey good for him! None of those are easy programs. The finances can be explained - wealthy family, scholarships, paid his way since he has a job, awesome inheritance. Sure beats sitting in his parents basement playing World of Warcraft for 18 hours a day.

The World of Warcraft basement dweller stereotype has completely faded in the popular imagination. It seems like everyone who played WoW 20 (!!!) years ago, all grew up, got married, found stable employment, and had 2.5 kids who are now in middle school

Yeah many of the MDs I work with are all gamers who put in a decent amount of hours. Its a dying stereotype.

I had nothing but respect for this guy, until I noticed that between May 2023 - August 2023, he did absolutely NOTHING. What a bum.

I actually know several people who are currently playing WoW. They're Millennials. Not married. Employed. Don't have kids. Still playing the basement - either theirs or their parents.
