New online degrees from top Indian universities
#1
The IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) have recently launched a couple of new programs:

1. IIT Madras BS in Electronic Systems (launched September 2023; ~USD $7,000; proprietary LMS + has compulsory on-campus lab sessions)
2. IIT Guwahati BSc (Hons) in Data Science and AI (launched mid 2023; ~USD $4,000; Coursera)

This is in addition to a number of existing courses, including:

- The very popular IITM BS in Data Science and Applications (~USD $4,000), which now has about 29,000 students.
- A Coursera-hosted BSc (Hons) in Computer Science by BITS Pilani (~USD $4,000 to $6,000), a very prestigious STEM university in India.
- The (also Coursera-hosted) MBA in Business Analytics (~$1,900) by Jindal University, which I believe is the cheapest online government-recognised masters on the market.

There are, apparently, over 500 online degrees now accredited by the Indian government. I checked out some of the degrees mentioned in the link, and it seems like degrees from other universities aren't that much cheaper than the IIT/BITS Pilani courses (at least USD $3,000), despite being from lower-tier/ranked universities.

Does anyone know of any cheaper online courses from Indian universities? I wouldn't mind enrolling in a program that's less than a thousand dollars a year, just for fun.

Interesting to see an IIT partner-up with Coursera instead of doing it in-house. IIT Guwahati's program seems a lot more flexible compared to IIT Madras's.

Coursera also has an MBA program with IIT Roorkee, which costs a whopping $14,000!

They also have an MSIT with IIIT Hyderabad, which is only $3,200. The IIITs are apparently the IITs for IT. India also has IIMs for management and IIScs for science.

Upgrad has partnered with a few Indian institutions as well, having said that, I would stick with Coursera/Edx options first before going with Upgrad as I haven't tried their learning system, I've tried Coursera/Edx and those systems are solid...

I saw that Upgrad has a number of post-graduate diploma programs with the IITs, but no masters... yet. Upgrad's shady partnerships with unaccredited universities might turn away legitimate ones from hosting their degrees with them.

I think that Upgrad´s offer is different for each country, but here for degrees, I only get accredited universities.

Which unaccredited university have you detected offering a degree through Upgrad?
