That's a good thought to add to his options. Didn't someone mention that a capstone was added around the first of the year? I don't see it on this breakdown, so maybe it was a false alarm.

Would he just need English 2 and 21 FEMA credits plus the enrollment fee?

That is how I am reading it too as I would assume ENGL-111 would only count as ENG-101. If ENG-102 and FEMA could be knocked out by 3/31 then they would make the June graduation. That's what I am attempting myself Smile
BA in Natural Sciences/Mathematics, 2013 - TESC - Arnold Fletcher Award
AAS in Applied Computer Studies, 2013 - TESC
116 B&M Credits
32 FEMA Credits
9 ALEKS Credits - Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry
9 Straighterline Credits - Business Communication, Microeconomics, English Composition II
6 TESC Credits - Global Environmental Change
3 DSST Credits - Environment and Humanity

So Straighterline and FEMA or College Comp and FEMA....pretty darn doable!
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Okay, so we changed your degree and your college for you yesterday. Smile How are you doing with that?

Before that idea, I was going to mention some potential timing issues for Info Lit, capstone, and graduation at EC. I won't bother you with it, if you are planning to switch degrees now. What is your deadline to earn this degree?

Hey NAP, sorry for my delayed response. My internet has been down at my house for days! Thanks so much to you and all the others for all of your help so far with this.

Anyway, I do not have an exact deadline to get this done. Basically, we have about 14 buildings in my region and whenever one opens up with a Administrator position opening then I could apply if I have this associates degree done, so the sooner the better. I just dont want a good possibility to come up if someone retires, quits, terminates, etc. and me not be able to apply because this isnt done.

I am open to switching schools and degrees if it takes a lot of time off of getting this done. I have gotten comfortable and used to EC though. I also wanted to get on here tonight to tell you guys that I have already received my preliminary review back from them and wanted to let you know what it said...

Basically...they accepted all of my credits except for 2 math classes. The reasons for not giving me credit for Math 102 I was "Remedial or non-degree course" and for Math 103 was "Only one elementary math course can be applied to your degree program."

With everything else being accepted, it says that I need 13.69 Arts and Sciences electives and 3.00 capstone requirement. It also says that I need 1.67 credits from Additional Professional Credits or Arts and Sciences and 1.00 credit from Information Literacy.

With all of that being said, how long would it take me if I stayed with EC? and what would be the fastest exams to take and what form? (CLEP, DSST, EC, etc.)

If switching schools and degrees would make a huge difference time wise then I would consider. I would like to have this done within a couple of months if that is even possible.

Thanks again!

That's happened to me and may happen again this weekend. I know it can be hard.

Did you apply for and receive an evaluation for the AA and not the AS? That would probably account for the difference in the type of remaining credits needed (Arts & Sciences vs Applied Professional/free elective).

Do you have a preference between AA and AS? (None of the degrees that we are discussing for you really move you forward to your RN.)

Okay, if you want to be done in 3 months, let's talk about the scheduling issues at EC. To sign-up for the capstone which starts the beginning of March, it says you need Info Lit as a prerequisite. They don't offer Info Lit again until the same time. You'll need to ask if you are allowed to take Info Lit during the first week of the capstone course. (I know it can be finished quickly, but I don't know if they will let you do it this way.)

Info Lit at LSU is another option. (It's unclear if Penn Foster is still an option.) It looks a little more involved with 4 trips to the library, instead of all online reading like EC. I also don't know how long it would take to complete and get the transcript sent.

Then add 2 more months between the unofficial finish of all requirements and the official degree conferral. That would make 5 months total or 7 months, if the schedule issue for Info Lit isn't resolved well. This is longer than you wanted, but would give plenty of time for the exams, too.

I should add: I do believe that they will provide proof of completion of your degree, if needed, before it is officially conferred.

Thank you for the confirmation Marianne.

Were you also the student who mentioned that you could graduate with a bachelor's degree with slightly less than 120 credits? This evaluation for an associate degree says a little more than 15 credits (13.69 + 1.67) are needed through exams. If just 15 credits are taken (like 5 CLEPs), could that be enough?

Hi Collin!

Just wanted to be sure that you know the capstone is being listed now for the degree of AAS in Environmental, Safety and Security Technologies at TESC.

I'm not sure how that would affect a potential timeline at TESC.
