This is How You Transfer Certificates to UMPI
#1
This is for anyone who does not know this.

I've been trying to find out for a week if certain certificates transfer, and when I tried to find out through the Transcript Dept at UMPI, I just got told to send a transcript.  I tried to explain that these aren't via a scholastic transcript but certificates and credentials.  Then I was told to talk to Jessica about my work experience.  It didn't add up to me for the question I was asking.

Well, finally, someone at UMPI has e-mailed me to let me know "just send the certificates through Credly for evaluation."

Perfect, I already have an account at Credly, and all my credentials are stored there.

Things could be made a lot easier for the incoming process, which if outlined ahead of time, would probably reduce the transcript department and student services inquiries exponentially.  They could put this on a FAQ page as well.

So when you send over a Credly report, that’s actually a transcript. So they weren’t wrong regarding their wording. Looks like there was just a misunderstanding what a transcript is. Many people use Credly to also send over Sophia credits as well.

In addition to that, you want to send all info from previous colleges and universities, their transcripts, and anything else you can think of. If your alternative and regular credits are in Credly and/or Parchment, those are the two you want to send in. Note, these all go from the provider to the institution as they most likely need official transcripts.

Thank you so much! I think I'm all set with anything formally completed at colleges, and now just working on the alternative credits.  Although I've not really started in my mind, as I'm finishig up 2 clients, and can't do the back and forth, it's way too much reading and writing as part of my day job t also do this - decided to take one of my recent inquries and then thats it! Closed for summer!

So I actually have a pretty prestigious professional designation as well as several licenses that I wanted to use to cover 18 hours of upper level electives. I had to fill out a form for each course I was requesting "prior learning credit" with supporting evidence that it covered the education behind the license/designation. I tried to ensure what I was requesting was in fact something I had prior experience in such as taxes, investments, business law etc (I should've asked for ethics because that class blew! I'm not good with those "there's no wrong answer" classes).

I warn you that I submitted all my documents and forms to the registrar mid January, I didn't receive confirmation until the end of Spring 2 session! Additionally, I forewarn you that in my case at least, although the 18 credits put me over the 120 (I transferred 92 hours from another major university, I also had to meet the accounting minor credits) I still needed to meet the residency requirements to graduate from UMPI- you need 30 credit hours completed at UMPI specifically which cannot be transferred in. So I took a bunch of electives, it didn't matter what kind so I had things on there like spreadsheets, intro to graphic design, BUS 101 etc.

I hope you find this helpful.
