Almost all of the history courses show lower level on ACE, except for 306, even though people have received credit for them on here as upper level, such as History 308, 307, etc.
But on the Study.com/TESU transfer page, it shows which transfer as 300 level, so I don't get it.

Up until April 2018 or so, TESU used to evaluate a number of specific LL courses as UL (and in some cases evaluate certain UL courses as LL) as that what was most closely matched their own curriculum. However, with the change in leadership, the new direction for the evaluators was to award UL or LL based on that of the original school award (or in the case of alt credits, the recommendation of ACE and/or NCCRS). So a number of courses across all providers were re-evaluated to more closely match their ACE or NCCRS recommendations. This cut out quite a few courses that had formerly been accepted as UL for years.

Yeah, it kind of sucks, but at the same time, it means the evaluations are more consistent and predictable. This mainly helps people who are coming in with college credits that were UL when earned but TESU had been evaluating them as LL (in fact, I believe that is the reason why this new policy was put in place).

Going forward, if you want to know what the equivalency of a Study.com course is at TESU, first check the equivalencies listed on the Study.com site, that should show the courses that are covered in the latest articulation agreement. If it isn't listed in the equivalencies, then check ACE (or NCCRS) to see what they recommend; that should be what TESU will evaluate the course as in terms of UL vs LL and number of credits.

I don't know how TESU can even properly evaluate my courses for upper level criteria. WES doesn't send them with their course numbers, just the name and the grade/credit.

It's going to suck if I have to get 5 upper levels off SDC.

On TESU's website in a chart showing how you can transfer 90 credits from Study.com for a BA in Liberal Studies, it lists in the 300-400 level section these Study.com courses with their corresponding TESU equivalents. Note that only one of these has a 300 level code name at either place. Yet they are all listed as fulfilling the 300-400 level requirement:

I understand the need for an evaluation regarding courses coming in, but it seems to me that it should be clear cut whether a TESU course is upper level or not. This chart https://www.tesu.edu/studycom/ba-degree-...al-studies makes it seem as if these 200 named courses at TESU would fit the upper level credit slots -- meaning I could take them at TESU and meet this requirement.

Any one know anything about this?

The way to know if something comes in as UL is by looking at the "TESU Equivalency."  If the TESU equivalency is a 300-level or 400-level course, then it's UL.  There are quite a few Study.com courses that are 300-level or 400-level per their own course numbering system, but were not ACE/NCCRS approved as UL.  So you cannot use those to figure out if they will work or not.  You can only use TESU's numbering.

The other way to know is to look the course up on ACE/NCCRS.  If it says it will come in as UL, then it would normally come in as UL at any school.  TESU follows ACE recommendations pretty closely.

I originally chose my UL classes from the Study.com site for the TESU equivalencies by searching for those that are of the 300 - 400 level, but had those turned down as UL. I was told that certain classes listed there are no longer being accepted as UL at TESU, I don't know when they plan to update that list, but I hope they do it soon.

Your right about looking up the course level on the ACE site, that would probably be better since they'd more than likely stick close to the ACE recommendations.

The list has since been updated since the TESU downgrade. When were you doing your planning?

A little more than a week ago, glad to hear they updated it. I'll take another look at it then.
