TESC Is No Longer Accepting Community College Credits As Upper Level?? (Need advice)

So I wonder I have a few courses from cc that probably would've been upper level ie: abnormal psychology and social psychology....so now that they cannot be upper level I wonder what course or course number they would transfer as.

This rule is ridiculous in some instances, I can't imagine my Organic Chemistry I and II with lab going under LL credit, that is 10 credits. If they had made them LL I never would have finished my degree.

There has to be some exceptions to the rule. Sometimes they need to be prompted to rethink a general policy.

I'm probably over-worrying about this being a problem. I was estimating being able to transfer in a large number of credits (possibly over 100), & using just CLEP/DSST to finish up. Most of the tests are LL though, not UL... which is why I am worrying about this. I don't have a lot of UL coursework, because various school have required me to repeat what are really the same courses (i.e. life drawing) multiple times - thinking their course was somehow different from the last school's. So I'm behind in UL credits.

That's always the case. No matter the source, you still need UL credit. There is no cap on exam credit, a 90 cr. cap on CC credit, and no cap on transfer credit. Of course, there are a limited number of DSST exams offered for UL, you'll have to do some digging to use other exams or other courses to meet your UL requirement.

They sure are! If you go back in the archives when I was a student at Ocean, I think you and I talked about this on a thread. No way, shape or form was TESC giving me UL credit for organic chemistry, and I remember being so jealous that yours was All the premed sciences are lower level btw. Totally crappy.

I think the best way to do it is to take the classes in transfer and require a set amount of upperl level credit as Excelsior does. Their organizational behavior and their operations management are 300 level classes, however they took mine from Community College and Straighterline, even if they were lower level, however they didn't satisfy my 21 minimum upper level credit.

Another interesting policy I have seen is SW college in Kansas. They take everything without a limit, even if you have 120 transferable credits from a CC they will transfer the catch is that they require 60 credits coming from a 4 year institution (which Penn Foster is) and 30 credits in residency (which is pretty standard).

I disagree with the new policy of TESC however I must say that the previous one was too good to be true

That is exactly what they are doing. They will give 100/200 level credit for the CC courses. TESC requires 18 UL credits in the area of study for its BA degrees. Excelsior and COSC don't give UL credit for CC courses, so TESC is just in line with them. At least TESC still gives more UL credit for tests and ACE credits, and it requires less UL credits than the other two.

I am wondering if you have an evaluation done before the change if they must honor your evaluation which is good for six months. Just wondering. This is going be a game changer for a lot of people. People in my family included. Also it just really is insane that TESC does not have a tuition payment plan. They would probably would double their student body if they made this accessible.

That's right how can TESC change a policy mid yr? I don't think they can. It would have to be done when the new yr starts which is July.

I think they can change policies whenever they like, as they did for the associate capstones this year.

When did associate capstones begin? I don't have on on my evaluation so I assumed I didn't need to do one. Right now I am pursuing a general AA degree.
