I remember reading somewhere that the school (Regents College USNY) which eventually became Excelsior, had a more liberal credit policy a decade or two back. One particularly smart and resourceful person took and passed 4 subject GRE's in one weekend, earning the full 120 credits needed for a degree at that time. While I think that it may have been possible, it is certainly a rare bird that could pull off such a feat.

I really love this idea, but I am not crazy enough to try it! Someone who is a native speaker would have a much better shot at this.

My standard is probably the same story that Geezer mentioned. Last year, I read in an old "Bear's Guide to Earning Non-Tradtional College Degrees" about a National Guard member who passed 3 GREs and 5 general CLEPs to earn an entire degree in a very short amount of time. Also, like Geezer has said, the policies on passing scores have changed, but I still think it is an awesome accomplishment!

It looks like I may actually have the record here. I haven't really done anything with this Degree since 2006 (I'm applying to Med School, so I think I'm going to go with a B&M school) but I have two sessions that were above 4 tests. In one day in February of 2006 I took the following 5 tests:
THE CIVIL WAR AND RECONSTRUCTION
INTRODUCTION TO LAW ENFORCEMENT
AN INTRODUCTION TO THE MODERN MIDDLE EAST
CRIMINAL JUSTICE
PRINCIPLES OF PUBLIC SPEAKING
for a total of 15 credit hours
The next month ( had to get paid again lol) I took the following 8 tests in one day:
PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT
WESTERN CIVILIZATION I
PRINCIPLES OF MARKETING
WESTERN CIVILIZATION II
ANALYZING AND INTERPRETING LITERATURE
HERE'S TO YOUR HEALTH
INTRODUCTION TO WORLD RELIGIONS
SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HISTORY
for a total of 30 credit hours.

When I get to feeling sorry for myself because I have to study for ONE test and would rather be doing something else, I'm gonna look back at your accomplishment and realize that I should be doing even MORE.
Yours is one amazing record of tests!!

WOW! My head is spinning reading about these accomplishments. Please don't tell me that you're working full time and/or raising a family too!
I just began this process and I did two tests in a row today - that felt like enough. I don't know if I'll be able to do it with my work schedule, etc. but I'd my goal would be to test for 6 credits worth every three weeks or so. Also I've been finding it challenging to find test centers that are flexible here in the LA area...

living overseas has disadvantages. It is hard to get writing dates. My daughter, Donna, did 4 CLEP exams in one day. She took 12 CLEPs in one week, giving her 54 semester credits for the week. That also gave her 54 semester credits for the month. The next month she took Dantes at another site. She graduated with her BA from Charter Oak last month, having completed her course work at the age of 16 years and 4 months. Now she is enrolled in a M.Ed. program online which will also give her a teaching credential from Arizona.

I got 28 credits total in December through testing. My business was slow that month so I put my time to good use.
