But keep it in perspective. A new applicant off the street pays $65 just to get a look. They are asking you for just $35 more than that to satisfy your application fee.
The real question is will you let $35 worth of fee's add a year or more in time and potentially thousands to the cost of your MBA.
There are plenty of reasons to choose some other school, WGU may or may not be right for you.....but $35-$100 shouldn't be the deciding factor.
I'd be willing to overlook it, if they hadn't said that the $100 is in addition to the $65 I've already paid for the application when I reapplied last week. My enrollment adviser, and my former mentor (from when I was at WGU before) were both appalled at this policy, but said that there was nothing they could do: They cannot override student services.

Ok, so everything I said above plus $65.
There simply isn't enough cost here to drive you to another school (other reasons sure) but what's $100 in the grand scheme of things.

Good point. Other than Patten University, no other RA MBA program rivals WGU when it comes to cost.

It's the principle.....I'm being stubborn, I suppose.
However, I did see something disturbing: WGU has the lowest graduation rate among Private Universities (6.5%) according to CBS Moneywatch.

My thread should be the definitive guide to WGU doability. Can everyone do it? Of course not, if everyone could do it they all would and the degree would be worthless.
I think people may be misled into thinking WGU is easier than they expect...it's NOT for everyone, your gonna write...a LOT!
I think once you get away from the finance office you will find things easier to navigate. I think bailing on the program for the sake of $100 is nutty. If you want to bail for the sake of prestige or try patten for the different format then that's cool....but the WGU MBA is readilly completed in 12-18 months for 7-10K, your just not likely to beat that, nor in my opinion beat the format.

Many people probably think self-paced is better since they can go as fast or slow as they want. The problem is that a lot of people have issues with time management and internal motivation. That is why older adults do a lot better with online classes than younger adults. With schools like Patten and WGU, you're pairing self-paced with online. This is a bad combination for those who are not self-directed learners. Another issue is that people are uncomfortable with teaching themselves. There is no instruction at WGU. That is why testing out of a bunch of courses is scary to a lot of people. If you can manage to do that, then you're more likely to be successful in a self-paced program. However, like Rebel100 said, WGU does require a lot of writing while CBEs do not. Patten sounds like it doesn't require nearly as much writing. The complaints I read years ago about WGU's MBA program were mostly about the writing requirements. My master's degree was in a writing intensive social science subject. Those normally have more writing than applied fields like business. That said, I didn't write nearly as much as WGU graduate students.

Some students really overthink the task requirements, seems to cause many people a profound amount of angst, I'm sure a lot of people simply find the format insurmountable.

If I'm being honest with myself, it's probably more me not wanting to go back to WGU. I thoroughly enjoyed the objective assessments, but I loathed the performance assessments. The instructor-led Blackboard format at COSC seemed to work better for me. Idk....I'm starting to get a bit overwhelmed looking for a graduate program.....so many dreams...so many possibilities....so much (imagined) pressure...

Take some time off, you've earned it. Start back in the summer or even the fall. I dabbled with an arts masters before taking the wgu plunge.

The best advice, I'm sure....One day at a time....
On another note, I have a job interview next week with the Georgia Dept of Corrections - Probation Division for an opening as a probation officer.....a job that requires a bachelors degree.....and I'm qualified
