Places (other than the college bookstore) you've used to purchase textbooks.
#1
I learned a long time ago that you never listen to the college library with regard to what books are needed for each class. You always contact your professor and ask them what books are required because inevitably you end up spending $250.00 on the wrong textbook and then of course the college wants to buy them back at 1/4 what you paid for it. So I'm waiting patiently for professor so n so to tell me what textbooks I need and he hasn't responded to my email. My other two classes I received emails from the instructors telling me what books I needed and they were not the same ones the library had on file. In one case, the library didn't have the book the instructor said we needed at all!

Where have you found reliable places to purchase your textbooks aside from Amazon and BN.
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

I knew certain people that would *ahem* download a pdf version via torrent..:leaving:

Of course, I wouldn't advocate for such a thing, as you are just as likely to get you a free virus with it Tongue

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

As of yet I haven't found a better source for purchasing used books than Amazon...I did purchase one book for an Excelsior exam directly from Excelsior as it was the cheapest option...

Last used Amazon book I purchased was for ONE CENT (+ $3.99 for shipping)...

I use half.com The thing I like about it is you can pick which shipper to get the book from and some have expedited shipping if you need it quickly.

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun.   Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior.  And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

I had to get the book “Theatre, Brief Edition” by Robert Cohen. 10th Edition. It was like $120.00 new at the college book store. $90.00 used at the book store. I found it last night on ebay for $10.00 used. Same ISBN number. You just have to look around. Check out ebay/Amazon/Half.com as others have stated. At least in 2015 we have the technology and alternate sources to shop around. Compared to the 1980s/90s where you pretty much limited to college bookstore or local bookstore. Our CC busy back the book, even if it’s never been used, for 80 percent less than what you paid.

I would buy on half.com and save the packaging if it was reusable. When the course was over, I'd sell the book on half.com. Sometimes you can get lucky and sell it what you purchased it for.

Occasionally the books are online for free, some you can download and others you have to view online (legally). Another option is renting the textbook, which I did once as it was the cheapest option.

I'd usually compare prices from several platforms... Amazon, Ebay, Book Depository, Alibris, Abebooks, BetterWorldBooks, and Barnes & Noble. Due to my location, I've often found that the cheapest books are either new international editions or used, older editions.
