I have officially registered for this exam. I won't have as much time to read the text as I did my last TECEP. I have the PDF of the e-book, and have been using the crossword puzzles on the book companion site. I am in the process right now of turning the PDF into audio files, so I can listen to it while in the car. I have some notes from another person on here who took the exam. I'd really like to find someone else who is in the process of studying for this, to study with.

Hi, have you taken the tecep yet or not? I'm scheduled to take it in February and am beginning studying sometime this week.

I know this is totally off topic. But, I have to ask this. How does a Psychology of Women class work? Iâve been around women all my life, dated many, and I havenâ t yet figured out their psychology. Body language, facial expressions, when they like you or not interested in dating. If I was younger and I told my father I was taking a psychology on women class/exam he would be the type to say âif you want to learn about psychology of women then come and live with my wife and try to figure her out because I havenât in the 35 years weâve been married.â
Itâs just funny. I see that come up a lot. Psychology of Women and I laugh to myself âisnât every woman differentâ¦and how does one class really think it can define how they operate on a psychological level?â
Ah college...where classes and books are totally different than what happens in real life. Now I'm thinking of Rodney Dangerfield from "Back to School"

The textbook that the course is based on is more like "The female experience is U.S. society", which is probably a lot easier to define than the actual psychology of women.

That makes a little bit more sense. A Sociological and Psychological outlook on women in society/culture. By the course name it had sounded more like trying to figure out how women mentally think lol. Since human-beings are different, I would find it hard for one class/book to define a whole gender classes way of thinking.
Our CC use to offer an AA in Women Studies. They did away with that degree sever years ago, along with Religious Studies. Although most of the classes are still being offered to apply to other degree programs.

The same way you structure social psychology, developmental psychology, and abnormal psychology courses based on humans. There are many things that are generally the same across organisms of the same species. Female humans do have a slightly different brain structure and different amounts of hormones than male humans do. If you want to get into how individuals act, then you take a class on psychology of personality.

Yeah, I'm not nor ever was a psychology major. The name just seem to indicate sometime of inside look into women and we all know women are all or almost all different. I took the PSY 01 class but that was it. I don't need to take a class to see how individuals act lol when I can just drive down to Hollywood for that. We have every normal, abnormal, sane, insane, perverted, weird, unstable, drag-queen's or king's, the socially cultured and uncultured, and failed actors and artists all over down there. That would fall under social and abnormal psychology.

The purpose of psychology is to understand the reasons behind the behavior. It was always known that insane people existed, but the reasons behind it were not understood. That's why we had churches attempting to perform exorcisms and the like on people who were determined to be possessed with demonic spirits. Without understanding the causes behind the behavior, we would not have developed medications and psychotherapies for these abnormalities.

Yes. Social and Behavior Sciences (excluding politics I guess). Although not all behaviors are brought on from being mentally unstable due to psychological reasons from birth (defects.) Someone having an OD on drugs or a drug problem which leads to mental unstablness is one example. Although, I guess that might fall under Social Psychology.
As for Hollywood some are just straight out insane and weird for who knows what reasons. That's just no getting around. They don't call it "Hollyweird" for nothing.
