Once this cluster gets resolved I plan on sending the "thank you" note to Nancy/Pierpont and mention this as one of the (few) downsides to this degree.

I'm going to email Nancy on Monday on behalf of my son. If you wouldn't mind, I would like to use your real name to reference your situation and confirm it with us too. I have never heard of a college that couldn't generate a transcript.... this has to be addressed. And no, no one in my family is taking a 1 credit class to make that happen. This is a registrar problem maybe?

I PM'ed you. I'm pretty sure this is a problem with the software they're using.

"Okay....I think I know what's going on.

If you got your BOG through Pierpont via other courses and credits earned elsewhere and have no actual Pierpont courses on your transcript, the system will not generate an official transcript. That's just how it works.

This has happened with another student who needed a transcript, and I was able to write a letter of explanation for him to share with his employer and future university. Let me know if that will suffice. If you took no Pierpont courses, this is all I can offer.

I'm sorry I didn't think about this detail earlier."

I'll preface this by saying its past 1:00 am and I am up late on a Saturday night, Working my ass off for this degree. They need to get their act together at Pierpont. They have so many "Oops I forgot moments"

Oops I forgot, you don't get a concentration since you are transferring in ACE credits, Only after the fact was this detail added to the webpage in plain English. This was also never mentioned to me in my e-mails with Nancy.
Oops I forgot, I didn't tell you, you needed this one random class to raise your GPA, take this $1400 class from us. I then tell them no I'm not paying $1400 and that I am taking the class at my local Brick and Mortar for $800 with no aid because Pierpont couldn't tell me if I would receive aid for the class until I registered. It turns out I would have had it covered for $1400, but I found out through FASFA and not Pierpont after the fact. They wanted me to register and just go along with it; When I told them my concerns about the cost, they said we have a payment plan... like that changes the price!

Oops, I forgot, Your CompTIA certs are only worth one credit, Because according to Nancy they were worth one credit... The burden of proof should not be on me to track down other professors from other departments. Luckily the other department left a voicemail which I was able to use as proof when fighting for my CompTIA credit transfers. Without that voicemail, I would have been ****** on credit transfers and not one person would have cared.

This degree and program are ridiculous, I swear they make up the rules as they go. They are pissed because they aren't making money from it and in turn, they do little things like not give us a transcript.... and they say whoops!

If this is the case, I not only wasted 7 months and twenty-nine days, now I won't be able to apply to WGU or any college worth attending. If this is the case I will be writing letters and complaints to anyone that will listen.

This is not how you treat students. "That's just how it works." No nancy, That's not just how it works.

This is probably what's happening, but don't be mad.
I did this once, in 1992 as part of a degree program that launched at my community college. At the time, I was a chef and probably the only one in our culinary association that really valued education enough to push for our apprentices to get a piece of paper. We literally made it up as we went. That's not to say the college(s) don't have rules and regs or that there aren't accreditation requirements - but AAS degrees fall just outside the crisp and clean lines of a college system. I'm pretty sure that whatever is going on here with members from this board is Nancy's education. The longer she works with situations like ours, the more knowledge she'll have - that's why it's important to keep on her. Make her solve these problems and work things out.
I sent her an email on a Sat once and got a reply from her phone full of "text abbreviations" so I know she takes her work seriously and takes it home with her- but she told me in that reply to message her on Monday where she had access to her computer. I'm not going to email her on weekends anymore, but I'm going to email her tomorrow. I think the more pressing she gets, it helps her learn how to do her job. - and I'm not being a snot when I say that- I'm being serious. 99% of the people who do this for a living are only superficially aware of how to handle the nuances of alternative credit because 99% of the people don't use alternative credit.

BTW- my son's transcript has 147 credits on it. She didn't know to take off the Alternative Credit Project duplicates and sort them from the Straighterline courses. It doesn't matter, because he has everything, but at some point, I'll probably tell her so she can learn. She'll probably see ACP credit again (as long as members here are submitting transcritps) and she should know what it means.

You make some excellent points. I used to work at a community college when I was 19; I was the youngest member on staff. Many times there were issues with programs or transfers, but the student always came first. I guess that is my issue; I don't feel like our issues are being taken seriously or in earnest.

We also have no recourse when things don't work out. It seems they created the program for a particular type of student and we don't fit that paradigm. How an RA college can offer a degree with no transcript is absurd. I'm going to be making call's tomorrow and double checking the information on their program. The fact that she says in her email that there is nothing she can do about it boils my blood. It seems like a petty attempt at a cash grab. She can change or do whatever she wants; it's her program.

I wish you the best tomorrow with your phone call/e-mail, and I hope Nancy has some great news for us, but I won't hold my breath.

How can it be a cash grab when there is literally ZERO cash coming to the school for this degree?

If you are forced to take a class to receive your transcript, that is a cash grab. If Pierpont wants people to pay, then state that in the literature.

I'm not against Pierpont making money from this program, but when you have students attempting to transfer their transcript and at the last minute say "We would love to but you have to take this class to make it possible "Nowhere in their literature is that stated.

Who was it that posted their transcript and it had SL Biology not listed as a SCI course? I'm starting to worry they won't take my Biology 101 from Clovis. Anyone have any issues transferring in a biology course?
