New to FEMA

Hey,

I've taken a number of other exams for credit but I've never heard of FEMA till this forum. I looked the site up but I'm not making much sense of it.
Could someone briefly explain how these work?
How would I study for one?
Are there some that are easier or recommended?
Do some of these transfer for UL credit? If so, which ones?
How long does one usually take to study for?

its not to bad and you can knock these out pretty quick. All you need to do is:
1. go to this site Emergency Management Institute | Independent Study (IS) - Course List.
2. Select a course.
3. choose either the online study course or download the PDF.
4. study your material
5. take the test.

Bam done.

as for easiest, thats subjective in my opinion.. they were all pretty easy to me.
I took about an hour or so on each one total.
I don't know if any would transfer to UL

Check with the forum on how many credits you can use for your major. I was only able to use 3 in my free electives.

I did 3 courses, it was relatively fast about an hour for each one. Some of them require two or more courses to make up 1 credit. Just pick one that interest you the most and try it out. You can fail the examine and nothing will happen.

I also want to point out that it's free courses, but if you want to transfer the credits to college beside TESC, it will cost money.

Off topic: Have you heard about Aleks? Only asking because your sig said you failed Clep precal. It's an online website that give you math credits. It cost $20 a month and since you passed clep algebra and math, you can do their intermediate algebra, precal/trig, and statistic for 9 credit.

TESC has a list of accepted FEMA courses. Is that the school you're planning to attend?

Thank you. I've heard of them but not really looked into them. Do you have to be in high school to take them? And also, the biggest need for tests I have is a natural science (preferably chemistry). Do they have anything for that kind of stuff?

That would be my second choice behind CLEP. If you have just missed Clep by a point, then you should be able to breeze through the open book tests. I mean, they cant make it any easier allowing an ebook and open book.

Anyone can take them. You can go to their website, and sign up for 48 hour trial to see if you like their method of teaching. They only have math courses.
