I've been studying for this test for a while, and took the official clep practice test and scored really high. However, i also took a couple of peterson's practice tests and scored only 21% and 17%, respectively. Which is more accurate to the actual clep test? Am i ready????

Peterson's tests are almost always much harder than the real thing, but a score of less than about 60% on one would still give me pause. (I've taken the Nat Sci CLEP but didn't use Peterson's for it.) The CLEP practice questions are usually a good indicator of the type of material covered on the test and in what proportions, but often, the practice questions average out to be easier than the real thing.
You might benefit from taking a different practice test. If you can get your hands on an REA book (what I used), the drill questions in it are probably more on target than Peterson's. Kaplan also has a book which, IIRC, contains full-length practice tests.
Keep studying, and good luck!

The Natural Science CLEP was my lowest score ever on any CLEP I've taken, and I studied for well over a month. I don't remember taking the Peterson's practice exams for this particular test, but I do remember that the Official CLEP Guide was a much better indicator of what to expect on the actual test.
My experience with Peterson's practice tests is that they're almost always much easier or much harder than the actual test. Still, you may want to get that percentage up to around 40% before you consider taking the exam.

Just as an example, my scores on Peterson were 42% (after three weeks of study over a year ago when I first started working on CLEPs; I put down Natural Science and took 12 other exams) and 68% (day before yesterday, after two solid weeks of prep). Yesterday I scored 78 on the CLEP practice test. I took the real test today and got a 72.
I wouldn't take the test with those Pete scores, although Petes are more detailed than the actual CLEP. What are you using to study and what science knowledge did you have to start?

Thanks everybody for the feedback. As it turned out, Peterson's was completely inaccurate, and MUCH more detailed than the actual CLEP. The questions I didn't know were very different than on the peterson's, though I think I would still use them at the beggining of study, to determine where to spend the most time; but I went ahead and took it and passed!!hilarious
