AP Computer Science A
#1
Could anybody take a guess as to who the AP Computer Science A Exam would come in at TESU?

Do you think that that would fulfill the Intro to Programming requirement for the BACS?

TESU goes by the ACE recommendations for College Board Exams (both CLEP and AP).
When was the exam taken? That may impact the outcome.
TESU Class of 2024 BSBA-CIS+GM, BSIT, ASNSM-CS+Math, AAS-GEN
Earned credits from Sophia, SDC, ASU ULC, TEEX, Microsoft, Strayer, TESU, Saylor, DSST, CLEP, CompTIA, StraighterLine, and others since starting in April 2020

The exam has not been taken yet. We are waiting to see if gets ACE credit approval again, since it is not currently up to date. I was aware that a score of 3 or higher will likely come in as 4 credits, but I just wonder as what course number. Do you think it will come in COS-1110 or COS-2080?

It just expired, but the college board is usually pretty good in their turnaround. This is intro to programming or intro to Java programming since 2017, and both of those fulfill the TESU requirement.

Just for my own understanding:

If, instead of the AP exam, we go the SDC route, is it not true that only SDC Intro to Programming (COS-1110 at TESU) fulfills the Intro to Programming requirement for the BACS at TESU?

In other words, I always thought that SDC Java Programming (COS-2080 at TESU) or SDC Python Programming (COS-2050 at TESU) do NOT fulfill the Intro to Programming requirement. Am I wrong?

At SDC, you can take Computer Science 109: Introduction to Programming (it's a Java class, comes in as COS-1110) - it also fills out about half of the data structures class (Comp Sci 201) for COS-2410. Both LevelUP and Rachel83az plans have this course as accepted.

TESU's My Progress shows the following options:
COS-1110 Intro to Programming
ITS-1500 Computer Programming I

My son is using Intro to Python Programming from Sophia, which was pre-planned with advising to come in as ITS-1500 Intro to Programming. Intro to Java from Sophia also works, as it comes in as COS-1110.

Exactly this... I would recommend taking both Intro to Java, Python, and anything else at Sophia.org if you have a membership. These are all introduction to Programming and would help build better understanding on Programming at the basic or introductory level. Having a good grasp of these would help for future programming classes.
