Graduate Schools that accept the most transfer credits
#51
Ana G. Mendez University: "A student must complete a minimum of 25% of their applicable program credits from AGMU to meet the residency requirements." This is part of the Residency Policy in the current undergraduate catalog and also the current graduate catalog. Transfer of Credit Policy and Advanced Standing Policy are separated from each other in the catalogs. "B" grade minimum for graduate transfer, "pass" grade considered. 5 year recency for "Core/Major courses including business, technical and specialty courses." No transfer credits to clinical mental health counseling at this time. Advanced Standing Policy indicates openness to "credit from standardized placement assessment, prior learning, or challenge examinations." Coopersmith (NCCRS) lists AGMU as an affiliate/partner.

University of South Florida - 49% (varies by program)
Harrison Middleton - 18 credits
Erikson Institute - 50% (must have letter of support from previous program)
Abraham Lincoln University - 50% for master's
Fuller Seminary - up to 2/3 (no more than 50% of transfer credits can come from a previous degree)
Dallas Baptist University - 4 of their online programs accept up to 50%
Concordia St. Paul - 50%
Rockbridge Seminary - 50%

Thank you for this thread!

I noticed your comments for Fuller Seminary. Do these others generally refuse all credits that went toward a previous degree? I'd love to transfer at least 50% and hope Fuller is not the only option.

From what I've seen, I don't think most schools accept transfer credits from conferred degrees. At most, they'll waive general education requirements at the undergraduate level.

So, I communicated with TESU on the grad level recommendations for Lawshelf and was advised this:

"Patricia Certo (Thomas Edison State University)
Aug 4, 2022, 2:33 PM EDT
Brian,

Thank you for your patience; the Dean had to review the Lawshelf courses to determine how they'll transfer.
Per her review, all of the options will transfer at the 300 level (undergraduate)."

TESU will not transcript Lawshelf at Grad level.

Any word on what schools might transcript them at grad level? (I'm in my final three classes at TESU and this has a great interest for me!)

If you have credit from a school that closed, it's possible that a different school even without a formal teach-out agreement will reduce its residency requirements so you can complete a degree.

Indiana Wesleyan University for example has a policy for such "displaced students." A displaced student transferring to an IWU graduate program that is 36 credit hours must take a minimum of only 9 credit hours at IWU, for example.

Indiana Wesleyan doesn't meet sanantone's general criterion for this thread as it limits graduate transfer credit normally to 35% of a program. However, it might be useful to someone that it states it accepts ACE and NCCRS and that statement isn't limited to the undergraduate level alone. It also accepts NA and has a PLA process for unaccredited.

Salem University: Up to 50% of a master's program. Also, its DBA program will award up to 9 out of its 51 credits by portfolio assessment for relevant professional experience totaling at least five years.

I don't think these have been mentioned yet, and I previously made threads on these programs.

Colorado State University's PhD in Engineering will apply up to 30 credits from a technical master's degree plus 10 doctoral credits that were not previously used in another degree. The Doctor of Engineering will apply 30 credits from a technical master's plus 6 doctoral credits that were previously not applied to a degree.

Carolina University's PhD in Leadership allowed up to 50% of the program to be transferred in...at least when I first discovered the program. Contact them for up to date information.

Carolina University is an NA school with their accreditation through TRACS. This may matter to some folks.

UT El Paso:

"Except for shared/co-operative programs, the majority of credit for a graduate degree must be earned at the University. For a master's degree, up to fourteen (14) semester hours of graduate work can be transferred from another accredited institution with the approval of the program. When such transfer is approved, the student must still meet the residence requirements of two full semesters or the equivalent, and coursework must fall within the six-year time period. Doctoral students are advised to consult their respective doctoral program for information on transfer of credit. All coursework transferred from other accredited institutions requires both the approval of the graduate studies committee in the student's major area and the Dean of the Graduate School."

Waldorf University (not to be confused with Walden) allows 50% to be transferred in.
