Columbia College - Missouri, Second BA policy

I was perusing through the Columbia College of Missouri website and I spotted this Dual Degree policy. Compared to the BIG 3 and other colleges recommended, how does this policy compare? It sounds like if someone where to pursue a second degree, they would need to complete 75 additional hours?

Dual Degrees
A student who wishes to earn a second baccalaureate degree at Columbia College must complete all requirements for both degrees, including at least 30 additional semester hours in residence beyond the requirements for the first degree, for a total of 150 completed hours.

A second associate degree requires 15 additional semester hours in residence, beyond the requirements for the first degree, for a total of 75 completed hours. “In residence” in this context indicates hours earned through Columbia College courses. Majors and minors may not be added to an already earned degree.

The baccalaureate degree grade point average (GPA) is frozen once the degree has been awarded. Subsequent coursework and grades will not be calculated as part of the initial degree GPA. Coursework completed as part of the initial degree may be repeated, but the subsequent grade will not replace the initial grade. Both instances of the course and grades for each will be reflected on the record, and both will be calculated into the overall Columbia College GPA. Coursework which repeats credit that was applied toward an initial degree is not included in the additional 30 hours in residence required for a subsequent degree.

It says that you need an extra 30 hours, not 75. Now all of those have to be in residence, and you might need more in order to fulfill the degree requirements. It's very similar to most of the other schools talked about here.

Excelsior doesn't really allow students to get a 2nd undergrad degree, though they have a policy allowing such.

IIRC, TESU requires 24 additional credits after the 1st degree. Assuming, of course, that you don't graduate with both degrees at the same time.

I don't remember what UMPI's policy is, but I think it's 30 credits after the 1st degree.

The policy reads like it's for two simultaneous degrees (rather than completing one and then going for a second/subsequent degree).

Example: "must complete all requirements for both degrees"

If it was a subsequent degree, you'd already have completed the requirements for the first degree.

A Dual Degree is an additional major done at the same time, not a 2nd degree after the 1st has already been completed.

UMPI allows this, without 30 extra credits (you just need to complete both majors)
TESU allows this, without 30 extra credits (you just need to complete both majors)
EU does not allow this that I've heard

Hmm, If I remember correctly, it's either dual degree or dual major. There's a slight difference, UMPI allows dual majors, not dual degrees. You can do the extra 30 credits, but it's one degree after the other. TESU allows you to have a dual degree, or a dual major. Excelsior allows a dual degree one after the other, for those who have had issues getting the second bachelors, they usually would recommend going to a Masters, technically they would allow the second degree if you "push" forward with it.

This is for dual degrees. It says 30 additional for a dual bachelors.

Then it goes on to talk about dual ASSOCIATE degrees needing 75 total credits for two associate degrees.

This isn't 100% true for UMPI. If you are completing the BLS first, then you need to graduate, apply again, and then complete an additional 30 credits for the second bachelor's degree. You won't have to complete the GEC or general electives again.

Then this statement does not apply to that particular degree; I'm replying to the OP that a dual degree (2 degrees or majors or minors or concentrations or whatever) done at the same time, is not the same as a first degree conferred, and then a 2nd degree gotten afterward.  And that many schools do not make you get 30cr extra done while doing this.

If you are getting a BLS at UMPI, and then you graduate and then go back for a 2nd degree, then that's not a dual degree.
