Can I get a Pierpont associate degree entirely from Sophia courses?

Doing English Comp at Sophia for transfer to UMPI is possible, but not suggested. The English Comp classes at UMPI are there to teach you how to write the papers you'll need for your other classes. Every school has slightly different expectations in regards to exactly how to format a paper (APA vs. MLA, etc.) and it's usually better to learn the specific requirements in a LL class like English Comp rather than a more difficult UL one where you're also trying to absorb the lesson contents.

From reading the pages I mentioned it sounds like you don't need to do any courses at UMPI, so I think not doing the writing course at UMPI shouldn't matter right? I want to not do any course at UMPI if possible for the easiest experience possible and just get a degree with Sophia, Coursera certifications, and and stuff like that and previous universities and community colleges I went to for maybe elective credit or just use Sophia and stuff like that for elective credit.

For US history and environmental science it's about person ability. I might just be able to finish them easily, but just to be on the safe side I have a small desire to avoid them if I can. History seems like it has a lot of important events, I can understand the big picture but remembering individual events I was thinking could get maybe complicated.

For UMPI, you MUST take at least 30 credits with them. There is no way around this. The majority of your UL credits need to be completed at UMPI, along with some LL ones (exact credits depend on the degree). Taking English Comp from UMPI will make the rest of the UMPI credits easier, in general, for most students.

All schools require some minimum of credits to be taken directly from them. It's usually 30-60 credits, though it can be higher.

With TESU, you only need to take 6 credits from TESU itself - but the cost for those 6 credits + residency waiver will be higher than for the 30 UMPI credits.

You absolutely must have a history class for the GEC requirements at UMPI and for the Gen Eds elsewhere. I don't know of a single school that doesn't require at least one history class for Gen Eds.

You also MUST have science for UMPI. You need a biological science and a physical science. The easiest way to do this, assuming a student doesn't already have the required science classes would be:

Human Biology @ Sophia
Human Biology Lab @ Sophia
Environmental Science @ Sophia

If you do not take the required sciences from Sophia, the UMPI class they'll force you to take will be much, much more difficult and you'll be less likely to pass. It's almost made some students quit due to its difficulty.

But if you're going to continue on to UMPI, it's best that you try to tailor the courses you're taking to eventual UMPI admission. Otherwise, it's essentially wasted time/effort. Which is why I advise NOT taking English Comp. For Pierpont, Visual Communication works just as well and is much easier/faster.

If you're going for the easiest/fastest at Sophia to get your Pierpont degree and move on to UMPI, I'd advise the following from Sophia:

• Visual Communication OR Workplace Communication
  
• College Algebra AND either Human Biology or Environmental Science
  
• US History I
  
• Introduction to Information Technology
  
• Skip the ASU course because you already have prior college credit.
  

Each of the above classes can be finished in a few days to a week. Skip Psychology and Sociology for now; those have significant Touchstones that can take a while to complete and have graded. Make sure you refer to https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/So...lency_List to see which courses have the fewest Touchstones. The ones with 0-2 Touchstones are usually the fastest and easiest to complete. Remember that everything at Sophia is open book. There is no need to memorize everything, so long as you have a decent grasp of the material.

The cornerstone appears to be more challenging now, and the capstone will vary a lot depending on professor and how well you choose your thesis.

TESU is about as close as you can get. You MUST do 6 credits (cornerstone and capstone) at TESU, but the remaining 114 credits can come from anywhere.
