Are they scrapping the FEMA Independent Study Program?
#1
The FEMA ISP/EMI links aren't bringing up any website. Have anyone heard of if they were discontinuing this?

I just tried to access them too and they didn't work for me either. I sure hope they are not discontinuing them as I was looking forward to doing them in the next few weeks. Sad

I went into the FEMA main website and their is a message that their website is experiencing problems. So maybe it is just a transient issue and not removal of the program. Let's hope!

I thought about waiting a day before posting the question just in case they were have website issues. I was just freaking out though. Many of my family members are planning on using FEMA courses towards a TESC degree. TESC's BS Homeland Security & Emeg. Prepardness is the main degree though that my son will be doing allowing 42 FEMA credits to be used. Where being able to use those credits makes the difference in him pursing and getting a bachelors degree versus an associates degree. Alright I feel better now... Thanks!

Just thought I would let you know...TESC only accepts 15 FEMA credits towards the Emergency Disaster Services major. They will accept 25 FEMAs all together. (The rest can be free electives)

I'm sure FEMA will have their website up and going again soon. Those classes are used extensively in training for different government jobs and for first responders. I don't see them discontinuing them any time soon!

I was counting the 15 and the additional 27 from the free electives. I thought since it could be used towards the free electives as well they would accept more. I forgot about reading on the forum though about only 25 FEMA credits being accepted. Oh! Well, an extra 17 credits was nice while it lasted...

Take it for what it's worth- VERIFY FOR YOUR DEGREE!

1)Greg,
After checking with the assistant dean on this degree, there is NO limit on ACE or TESC evaluated FEMA courses in the BS.HSEP degree; they can be used as free electives. I hope this information helps and please let me know if you need any additional assistance in moving forward with this degree. Thank you.
Best regards,
Caroline

2)Hello Caroline-
"approved FEMA credits" are also listed under the 15 credit electives, so are a total of 42 ( or more?) FEMA credits able to be applied to this BS.HSEP degree? That would be fantastic. It looks like Joyce will be moving forward soon on this degree- her last day with NW Airlines in this coming Friday. Thank you, Greg

3)Caroline...
since there is no prohibition against using any number of approved FEMA courses in electives, or free electives....this student can use whatever he/she has.
