Affordable Master's Degrees
#11
cookderosa Wrote:Hummmm.....I knew it was cheap, I knew it was self-paced, I did NOT know that it was this format. I'm going to look into this. Thanks!
EDIT: checked it out, it's perfect for teachers, business, nurses, or IT people.
The process is not unlike credit by exam...in fact at the lower level it looks very much like that. At the Masters level they do away with the exam format altogether and substitute written tasks such as essays or the creation of power point projects and the like. For Supply Chain I worked through an online simulator that took you through the start up of a business. Pretty cool really.

The degrees are very much geared towards getting graduates into jobs...hence the emphases on more concrete concentration areas.

I'm becoming more and more impressed with the alumni network as well...WGU has a very forward thinking model. I'm now 25 days into the MBA and have finished one course and submitted all the work for the second one...if i can keep the rate up I can probably finish in 1 term...we will see Smile
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Yup, very happy with it myself. My first term (MS:Information Security & Assurance) is over at the end of Oct. I'll have 4 courses (3 and the Thesis) left at that point. Was hoping to get it all done in one term, but work got in the way (about a month without time to do anything, then a few weeks to get back into the pace). That's one of the great things about it, I told them I wasn't going to be around for a few weeks due to work (Army contractor) and there was no problem at all.
