Advice on human growh & development 1st time taking clep test
#11
Thank you! I'm only taking the clep for developmental. It is my last pre-req for Nursing School which I will start in January. I need to pass this. My school only requires a 50. And I don't really want to pay 600 out of my pocket to sign up for this class at my current school. Hopefully it won't be as bad since I have taken psychology a couple times.
I appreciate all your feedback!
I'm acutually on a website call Educational Portal. I got it from somewhere here and they have lessons and 5 questions quizzes at the end. So far it seems helpful but I don't know if it's worth it from your point of view. I would hate to waste my time somewhere where it is not going to help me.
this is the website http://education-portal.com/academy/lesson

Lindagerr Wrote:Sanantone answered most of your questions, but I will tell you I am an obsessive over studier. I loved going over the specific exam feedback, some people (who know how) post study guides there. Also people will tell what areas they thought the test focused on and what areas they were not prepared for.

Yes IC is Instantcert Academy, it is $20/month but you can get discounts for the first month someone even has it in their signature, if you are doing a lot of exams in a short time you can join for 6 months at a discount. I always joined when I had one or several test to study for then quit when I wasn't studying. I miss the specific exam feedback now but I am only coaching my children and none of them has actually taken a test yet. The flashcards as they are called (I think of them more as fill in the blank) helped me study but I usually didn't try to answer I just used them by clicking through and reading questions and answers.

I never bought any textbooks I used IC, REA books, Peterson practice test (they used to be available free), and online sources recommended by others here. Oh and the free -clep -prep sight it is great. Also read Sanantones signature lots of free sources listed there.

I took the Human Growth and Development right after I did Intro to Psychology because of the overlap. I used only the REA book and the Official CLEP Study Guide. Human Growth and Development CLEP Study Guide - Free-Clep-Prep.com is a fabulous resource. If you have a subscription to IC, look through the Specific Feedback section too!

I actually used Education Portal to study for the Macroeconomics CLEP, and it was excellent for that. I have heard others say that it is great for the Intro to Psychology CLEP too. I do not know how it does with the Human Growth and Development exam, but it's been great for a couple of other exams.

I took this clep today. I scored a 54 and just needed a 50, so I'm happy Smile. I used REA, IC, pass your class book, and snazzlefrag's developmental psch study guide. The test covers a lot of different areas. I took the test after taking sociology and psychology because of the overlap which is a lot but won't be enough to pass without extra studying. It seems to really like Piaget. Good luck!!

This is the textbook for the Developmental Psych class I'm taking at TESC right now. I bought it used on amazon CHEAP! and I also got the study guide which was written for it, which is EXTENSIVE!

I've not taken this CLEP and I don't know about the other textbooks, but I think these would be ample study material for this test.
Total Newb Big Grin - Enrolled at TESC for AA, eventually going for BA Psych.

Thanks to everyone who provides such awesome information on this site, I'm slowly getting the hang of this crazy process.

CLEP - Intro. Psych. - 63, A&I Literature - 72, Intro. Edu. Psych. - 59
ALEKS - Intermediate Algebra
FEMA - 12 Credits
