I guess that you need to take CLEP for your degree related purposes. Since you are in Germany, and will be looking for a job then I think it would be a good idea to consider taking one of Goethe Institut certifications:

In Europe those language certificates are more valued than in the States. (Personally, I have my DELE Superior Spanish examination (C2 level), but nobody even cared about that when I applied for jobs here.
