hilarious And, he got my order wrong - it's a venti, triple shot, soy latte. Not non-fat. You'd think with all those degrees he'd get it right. Wink

marianne202 Wrote:Ok, so I teach online classes for a local community college. My new classes started Friday and my students have to do an icebreaker intro assignment. One of my students posted he is the "most educated person in America". He has 48 college degrees! He got the designation when he only had 38! He has everything up to several Master's. He has a law degree and who knows what else. The title came after winning a lawsuit against a local college.

I'm feeling very inadequate! I feel like such a wimp trying to eek out 2 bachelor's and thinking about an MBA!

I've been bitten by the education bug, but I don't know if I could get bitten this much!

I just thought this would motivate some on this board to get cracking! I really didn't know this was possible. He said they haven't made him rich yet...I guess not because all the tuition would eat up any profit.

Ok fellow degree seekers, now we have no excuses to not continue on!
wow you have passed so many cleps. I am in need of 15 credits asap. im currently studying for both analyzing lit. and human growth and development. can you tell me what are some of the more easier cleps? really want to do this.

I just got back from a very trying drive to south Carolina to visit my mother and sister and family. My brother has not seen there home in the almost 5 years they have lived there so I generously offered to take hime along with my son, dh and I. Well my brother looks great, dresses great and is inteligent, but after a 15 hour drive through snow down there 9 nights and days with him almost constantly and a 14 hour drive home last night, I was ready to kill him. He is opinionated, selfish, narcissistic(sp?) and just plain annoying. I love my brother, but a bachelor at 59 and on Social Security disability for at least 10 years he has no grasp of the real world of working adults.

I would think this guy with so many degrees is the same way. If he sits in his home just taking online courses and suing colleges, he probably has very little contact with the real world. Did you say how old he is? Could he be living on Mommy and Daddy's dime and using grants and federal aide to take all this schooling?

Whenever I read something like that it just makes me think this person has little to no grasp of real life.

P.S. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas or Hannakah or Quanza and may everyone have a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous 2010!!!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

LOL! He attained a Professional Barista degree at Starbucks! That's pure comedy.

Since coffee was mentioned and I am a coffee nazi, I couldn't resist adding to the conversation.

Actually, if any of you ever have a chance to go to Intelligentsia (or Metropolis, Istria Cafe and Asado Cafe!) in Chicago....those baristas are great. Making a latte-, just a decent cup of coffee is an art! It really is. Take it from this coffee snob. That's why I don't go to Starbucks. Crappy coffee. I'd avoid a barista with a barista degree from Starbucks, if it ever were to exist. Lol. That's definately a case when name brand should be avoided!

Now those baristas at Intelligentsia....their job training should definately be awarded some college credit by ACE.

(Side note...at intelligentsia the only flavored syrups they have - Vanilla. THat's it. I was in line once for my coffee. This woman, possibly someone in Chicago on business stopped in. It was obvious she was new to Intelligentsia. She walks up to the counter saying she wanted a skim grande mocha latte with a bit of foam"

The barista looks up at her and points out the door, "Starbucks is that way.")

So if you are ever in Chicago, go to one of the cafes I mentioned and I bet you would agree those philosophy degree holders make the best cup of coffee ever! And yes....making a great cup of coffee should indeed be awarded college credit! When I actually had the courage to ask for a latte instead of regular coffee they made the prettiest design on my foam...6 credits for sure.

Does anyone remember Ken Jennings from Jeopardy? He won something like 75 consecutive contests and completely annihilated everyone else.

The CEO of a large company was asked how valuable Ken Jennings would be to his company? His response: About $15. He said he could go out and buy an encyclopedia for the same amount. It wasn't a knock against Jennings. The CEO is correct. There is a difference between broad knowledge and specialized real-world experience.

I bet many people on this board could eventually attain 100 degrees if they could afford them and if they devoted their full-time status to attaining them. A lot of credits can be used over and over again to fill core requirements for different degrees. The student in your class is impressive, but that's not the path I'd choose. I wouldn't hire someone whose resume had 48 degrees... unless he was applying for the job of "Degree Earner."
75 credits in four months using InstantCert.
