My definition of conservative
#1
Personal responsibility, limited government, individual liberty, strong national defense, traditional values, free markets.

This is America, I am not saying everyone has to agree with me, but it is brought up so often I wanted to give my thoughts. These are reasons I call my self a conservative and not a Republican.

I agree with those qualities you listed. I also hesitate to call myself a Republican because of the reasons you mentioned.

great def of conservative. Definitely agree with you!
#5
Right here! Ditto dc67, I was coming on to post exactly what you just said.
#6
Since you are the one with such great wisdom Gary and everyone else is just stupid, which of those qualities is a bad thing?
#7
What are you talking about? Because you round up a posse of conservatives, some of who probably aren't old enough to pay taxes, you got the market cornered? Take a look at the news, any news, even your conservative TV and look at Prez Obama's approval rating. Look who's arrived at dinner. Who's calling the shot's.

Dubya, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice
Disgraced our country, now we're paying the price.
Obama, Biden, offer up plenty
More than Jindal, Palin and Pawlenty

One lacks charisma, the others a whack
The third sure ain't no political hack
But you still have Rush and and a man called Steele
Who's made of aluminum and has no appeal

Let's not talk of Beck, O'Reilly or Hannity
Time to stop listening to their insanity
Fox noise ain't news, it's more of the same
Conservative crap that's really quite lame

Things look bleak but give us a break
We're gonna take pork and make it steak
So drop all this conservative talk
It's time to take the liberal walk.

Enjoy the scenery folks. Sit back. Take your shoes off. Ya'll come back now, y'hear.

You are listening to hip-hop liberal radio. Pump up the volume. Go ahead, you know you want to. It's OK, the conservative movement is dying. I just heard another brain cell go POP. Seriously, hop onboard. We take retreads.
#9
You still aren't answering my question. Which of the qualities I listed are so evil?
#10
For the record, I'm a liberal. Personal responsibility, government intervention when needed, pro-choice, equal rights for all including sexual preference, free markets with regulation, strong military, and the right to firearms with room for gun control. I voted for Obama and am quite happy with several of the ideas on the table right now. Health care, federal funding for embyonic stem cell research, phased withdrawl from Iraq, etc... I wouldn't call myself a Democrat, I just tend to vote more that way. I vote from my values though.

I don't think there is anything evil about any of the qualities you listed dc67. Thats why I love this country. We disagree about some fundamental issues, but we still both love the hell out of this country.
