Yup! Any non-English language is accepted for the foreign language requirement at UMPI. This includes American Sign Language. Unfortunately, YourPace's offerings aren't great, even compared to what they have on-campus. It's why we recommend Sophia or an ACTFL exam.

For the UMPI bachelor's in Information Systems I was looking at this page: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Pi...egree_Plan
And I was wondering about the Coursera certifications. The webpage says there are quizzes for the certifications - Google Data Analytics Certificate, Google IT Professional Certificate, Google UX Design Certificate, and the IBM Cybersecurity Analyst Professional Certificate. Are the quizzes proctored or do you have a set limited amount of time to do them (like 90 minutes or something)? Are the courses for the certifications easy for most people that are at least a little tech savvy? And how long could these certifications take an average person to finish? I'm trying to see if I should do a WGU general IT degree through mostly Study.com, Sophia and stuff like that or if the UMPI degree with the Coursera certifications will be easier.
Also under Information Systems, the page mentions 3 classes - Introduction to Programming with Python, Introduction to Relational Databases, and Introduction to Web Development. Are these all Sophia classes? Thanks.

How long do you think the Sophia Spanish course would take most people who have no exposure to Spanish? All I know in Spanish I think is gracias, which I think means thank you or thanks. I've never really spoken to anyone in any Spanish in my life.
I think doing an OPI (Oral proficiency interview) for Urdu, my first or native language, would be easier since I already can speak it okay. I have no problem having a conversation with someone in Urdu. Plus I might use Urdu with family members, where as I might never use Spanish in my life. Thanks.
I personally have not taken it, but it is a basic language course - here is a resent thread (there are others about it as well), you can inquire more here if you wish - https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...ia+spanish However, since you'll be taking Sophia courses anyway I would recommend you give it a try (no extra cost to you since it is included).

On Coursera, the quizzes are timesd. For the Google ones, you usually get 60-120 minutes to answer 10-30 questions. You can make an attempt 3 times in 24 hours. If you fail to pass after the third attempt, you get to try again after the 24 hour cooldown timer has finished. You may use this time to review the missed material again or to complete the next section. You get infinite attempts to pass the graded sections, but it can eat away at your time.
As to how long the Coursera certificates take to complete, it depends. If you devote significant time to them, students have completed them in under a week (very challenging if you're not familiar with the material being covered), in a couple of weeks/under a month (still challenging, but reasonably doable), and 1-2 months (this is closer to what Google thinks should happen; I think the average student here can easily complete a Coursera certificate in under six weeks).
Take advantage of TADA if you can so you get as much free as possible.
Intro to Programming w/ Python, Intro to Relational Databases, and Intro to Web Dev are, indeed, all Sophia classes.

Are the Coursera quizzes also proctored, so you're watched by webcam as you're doing them, or does this not happen? Thanks.

No, no proctoring. If there was proctoring, they'd probably be significantly more expensive! They rely on you having a good grasp of the material vs. assuming you'll cheat.

In most of these courses, you can't fail, but you may get stuck at times.
Most of the IT degrees at WGU are certification-based. Oddly enough, WGU is the only school that offers Google IT Support for only 3 credits, while other schools count many of these certifications for 9 or more credits.
Here is the recently updated equivalent list for Coursera certifications
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Coursera
Degrees: BA Computer Science, BS Business Administration with a concentration in CIS, AS Natural Science & Math, TESU. 4.0 GPA 2022.
Course Experience: CLEP, Instantcert, Sophia.org, Study.com, Straighterline.com, Onlinedegree.org, Saylor.org, Csmlearn.com, and TEL Learning.
Certifications: W3Schools PHP, Google IT Support, Google Digital Marketing, Google Project Management

Hi, I want to try doing an associate degree at Piperpont and then try doing a bachelor's at UMPI, and need a little help.
1) I was going to do these courses for an associate degree from Piperpont:
English Composition I - ENGL 1104 Written English I
College Algebra - MTH 1212 College Algebra
Introduction to Psychology - PSYG 1101 Introduction to Psychology
Study.com's "Library Science 101: Information Literacy"
ASU's self-paced 1-credit tech support course for $25
Electives from courses I've done at previous universities and community colleges or Sophia.
2) Once I've done above, gotten an associate degree from Piperpont, and transferred to UMPI, can I then do these courses? I would want to try these courses after above because I'm a little unsure if I can do US US History I or Environmental Science at Sophia.
Communication at Work - Sophia.org
Visual Communication - Sophia.org
College Algebra - Sophia.org
Environmental Science - Sophia.org
US History I - Sophia.org
Psychology - Sophia.org
Introduction to Information Technology - Sophia.org
Google Data Analytics Certificate - Coursera
Google IT Professional Certificate - Coursera
Google UX Design Certificate - Coursera
IBM Cybersecurity Analyst Professional Certificate - Coursera
Introduction to Programming with Python - Sophia.org
Introduction to Relational Databases - Sophia.org
Introduction to Web Development - Sophia.org
Electives from courses I've done at previous universities and community colleges or Sophia.
Do I have to do #2 instead of #1? #1 seems easy and doable for me that's why I wanted to try doing it first, get an associate degree, transfer to UMPI, and then try to get bachelor's with UMP by trying #2.
I got all this information from here:
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Pierpont_C%26TC
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Pi...egree_Plan
I think I'm about ready to start doing classes and getting a degree or two now, but want to make sure doing associate at Piperpont certain way won't be a problem for then doing a bachelor's at UMPI, both done pretty quickly and cheaply.
