UMPI YourPace Computer Science

"I do believe we are working on a computer science degree but we are a year or two out before releasing it." - reply from Shea, when I enquired about admissions and asked for CS plans.

someone suggest to them to make a competency base masters level CS program for non majors. there's nothing out there atm, except NAU's MCIT program.

There isn't even an undergrad CS program. Grad is way off if ever. There's 1 professor for the on campus program that just started last January.

Another option for an online Comp SCI is really needed. I know of few different schools, such as WGU, that offer CBE Comp SCI. I emailed Jessica and asked her about this. I completed my BS in Comp Sci in 2018 with Park U, but my wife is interested in this area. She is currently starting and finishing her Mgt and ldrshp with UMPI.
DBA Organization Leadership - South - Expected April 2024
BA Political Science and History - UMPI - 2022
MS Cybersecurity & Information Assurance - WGU - 2021
BS Computer Science - Park U - 2018
MBA Public Administration - CSU - 2016
BS Management - Park U - 2010
AAS Communications Technology - CCAF - 2008

SNHU has a computer science program that gives students another option.

This mentions CBE Comp Sci, but SNHU is not CBE. Only the College for America at SNHU is CBE, but their degree program is fairly unique, and the degree choices are very limited.

I recently contacted Your Pace to inquire about them adding degrees, specifically Computer Science or Information Technology.

I just received an email today from the Dean of Your Pace Susan Chang, she told me UMPI has been in the introductory stages of designing a Com. Sci. degree through Your Pace over the last year. She told me they're hoping to release this program by the first session of 2023. Obviously this isn't set in stone, but its something!

I'm really glad about this! I spoke to Dr. Chang and President Rice as well, and she is reaching out to CodeAcademy about a possible partnership with them too! They thought the idea was brillaint.

I know we won't see anything for at least another year.

For people who still want computer science at UMPI ASK THEM! Work on TESU, COSC, etc meanwhile. But, tell UMPI you would've chose them if they had Comptuer Science. You never know it might get released early!
