Both TESU and COSC also accept NCCRS credit recommendations. I'm not sure why this would favor Excelsior.

Hoping this is or does become real soon. It could mean a very large shift in enrollments if EC has fourteen(14) 3cr and one(1) 2cr
free courses.

I wasn't really excited at first but now I'm on the seat of my pants.

There is no benefit to going to EC over TESU or COSC (by these courses alone).  They just happened to set up a partnership with EC that the other 2 didn't.  TESU and COSC will accept these courses too.

And, there are only a limited number of courses.  It's not like the TESU/Study.com partnership, where you could do an entire degree (up to the 90cr limit from a single source).

Hopefully, in time they will expand their partnerships to other colleges like TESU and COSC to help streamline transferring of credits. As mentioned, TESU and COSC should accept them since they are indeed NCCRS.

None of this helps anyone until they actually launch the classes, though. Hopefully, they can give us an actual start date soon instead of it always being "30 days"

In the spirit of "if its too good to be true, it probably is", I did a bit of desktop research on OnlineDegree.com and the founder.  It's always possible this program really is the real deal and will be an excellent source of alternative credits. That said, I do see some red flags.

Their corporate offices are in a small building in Las Vegas, right behind a gas station and next to an airport limo company (based on a google street view lookup of their address). The CEO previously founded a "patient education company" that was a marketing platform for creating leads for elective surgeries. The company called "patientguide.com" says they "generate leads for providers of a broad range of elective treatments including cosmetic laser treatments, injectables and body shaping, venous disease and other procedures in the growing lifestyle medical vertical" (http://about.patientsguide.com/#team).  He no longer works there.  He does, however co-own a patent in call center marketing for outbound call tracking, with the current CEO of PatientsGuide.com

Despite claims that the "Director of Education" founded an education company that developed corporate training, I could find no verification of this company (doesn't mean there isn't such a company, but I couldn't find it). She does, however, have experience writing content about elective surgeries and baby names.

There are other flags, but this information does make me wonder about OnlineDegree.com. That said, they seem to have quite a roster of advisers and professors (though I haven't yet researched their background). Who knows. Maybe OnlineDegree.com really will be an amazing opportunity for those seeking alternative credit, or maybe it is another online marketing scam.

Will be interesting to see.

Their courses have already been evaluated and recommended by NCCRS. We know they are legit in that respect.

As far as it being an online marketing scam, I don't think that will surprise many. What's the saying about if you're not paying for it, you're the product? For some, the tradeoff of free and (presumably) quick credit will be worth the tradeoff of obnoxious or possibly intrusive marketing schemes

You were comparing OD to MS, but really it's closer to Study.com or SL.  It's a credit-granting course provider.  MS is not.

I was clarifying for others who might be trying to figure out the different options in the future.

they both focus on getting you core classes, your first year basically, for free. i thought that was the similarity

I guess my focus was more on the method than the "free" part.  Again, if someone was looking up credit-bearing courses, then they wouldn't want to look at MS for that particular thing.

That Intro to Programming course looks interesting, and that is a requirement for the CS AOS.

Looking through the site, all the courses have a button to get started now. Has anyone tried registering yet? Or maybe has some idea of course equivalencies? Looks like a good portion of them would only fall under free electives or LL requirements for BALS at TESU.

The get started now button just takes you to a page for "pre enrollment" which is just your name and email.
