Wife's College Career
#1
So my wife has been telling me for years that she has "some" college.  I finally get her to do a password reset on her old B&M school and lo and behold, 61 credit hours.

Turns out she was missing 2 classes and a science lab for her AA.  One of the classes can be done via the A&I Lit CLEP.  One of the others is English Comp 2.  I suggested the CLEP and she balked saying it would stress her out too much having to write 2 essays that quickly.  The last class is a biology lab.

I was thinking of Straighterline for the lab and Comp II, as the local school is ACE friendly.  Shouldn't take more than a month.  Any other ideas?

Thanks!!!

Side note: I've also suggested the BOG degree....she isn't opposed to it, but with her being this close, I don't see the point.

Well, then either SL or Study.com for Comp II.

If she needs a lab anyway, then SL is the best choice. Although Comp II is NOT a favorite course through SL - people really seem to hate it. But she might just be able to suck it up and get through it.

And while she's paying for a month of SL, Religion or Philosophy will probably work for her other Humanities course.

Another option would be to see if the school will let her challenge their own English Comp II class. Sometimes they'll let you take the final exam or write the final paper and consider it a pass if you get a high enough grade.

First, the CLEP is fine, but the DSST is better. It's actually for Eng 2 and no essays. Wink Secondly, absolutely for sure get her to do the BOG. There is NO cost. None. Unless she has a deficiency (like the CLEP you mentioned) she should be able to pull out an AAS degree this month. If she later wants a BA, great, but why not get this and give her a small win. 61 is a lot closer to 60 than 120. In other words, if her 61 align properly, she can get the degree without a lot of stress or cost. Doing the BA, on the other hand, will require planning-cost-time-and work. Things that she may be motivated to do after she picks up her AAS. (or not- no harm no foul)

I've been preaching the BOG a bit, and I might have convinced her. She's good to go on all the requirements for it (Eng Comp I and a Public Speech class, plus everything else they need). Waiting for us to get over this nasty plague we both contracted to get the ball rolling.

Update: She's applied to Pierpont and sending her transcripts now. We may both graduate at the same time :-).

What is BOG? (I tried to search, but it's too short a search term.)
