How do I turn FEMA into college credit for the lowest price

Since the OP already took the Fema courses, COSC is the only school that still takes them raw. The question is whether the OP can get a transcript without taking a course from COSC (which someone here might know). But, if the OP HAS to take a class at Cosc, there is only one 1 unit class that is not a lab, English 103, Research Writing. There is also an enrollment fee each semester at COSC. I have learned a lot from reading lots of posts and threads, but don't know whether the OP can get a transcript w/o taking a COSC class. Any experts here know?

I realized this, but the OP also said that they needed 30 credits for a pay increase, and I thought I might throw out a cheaper alternative. Transferring the credits to COSC is the easier (faster?) way to go, but it's going to be MUCH more expensive than my plan. I guess it just depends on how much money he/she has to be able to do this.

A cheaper (but not faster) way to do it is to go through TESC. Take 4 ALEKS courses in 1 month ($20 for 12cr), free Kaplan (3cr), free Ethics (2cr), free TEEX (6cr), free NFA (3cr), 1 Saylor course ($25 for 3cr), and 1 TECEP ($111 for 3cr), and you have 32cr for $156. Not bad. But not fast.

This is what I would do if I were starting from scratch in your shoes. But, I think he has already got his FEMA courses done.....

I think the consensus here so far is that no one has really *done* what you're trying to do. It's going to cost you an application fee, but IMO, you should apply and pay the fee. Send your transcripts, and enroll as a degree seeking student at COSC- this will generate an evaluation. Register for 1 class and while you're in progress, request your transcript. Everything will be on there- you can just finish out your class and call it done (or continue to earn a degree!)

If you are at TESU (and mad props to me for figuring that out from your moniker), they will not take FEMA credits even when they are on a college transcript, sorry.

Yes, I'm doing my Bachelors at TESU. Let me clarify, I don't mind which institution - as long as they are cost appropriate and regionally accredited - this comes from.

Clackamas also as an AAS option using FEMA, but it's only available to those living in five states. I'm not sure you qualify.

FCC requires a project. Can that be done where you are now? Idk, you should research that carefully.

COSC AS here, but doesn't make much sense if doing BSBA at TESU http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...total.html

ETA The CCs would require you to get your gen eds more conventionally, at best CLEP. Not sure that is an option for you (Abroad).

The AAS in Environmental Safety and Security Technology from TESU is still doable but a little more expensive then previously and takes a bit more time to complete now. There are a few emergency management courses that are ACE or NCCRS recommended for credit but are not free. The TEEX and NFA courses may fit in the electives section. CSU global has credit by exam for a couple emergency management courses. Propero (Pearson Learning Solutions) has Intro to Homeland Security. DSST has Criminal Justice for 6 credits. Some criminal justice courses and maybe some environmental science courses would fit it in the electives section. Some prior training such as work related, FEMA resident training, military training might apply to the electives section as well.

Clackamas Community College has an emergency management program that looks interesting but is only open to residents in certain states. One reason for that is that in addition to FEMA IS courses, it also requires state specific training that is only available in a few states, maybe 5, that the college has an agreement with. I don't know if the college would consider students from other states.

Frederick Community College also has an AAS in emergency management. I believe it can be completed entirely online, and is available in most states if not all. It does require proctored challenge exams covering the FEMA IS training topics and is more expensive. Around $80 per credit to transfer the FEMA IS courses. Then the cost of the challenge exams. The AAS has an internship requirement. FCC will accept some CLEP or DSST exams. There is also an Emergency Management certificate.

TESUAbroad, if you are looking for a way to finish any degree quickly, you should consider the AAS in Business/ Adminstrative Management Studies at Excelsior. You already have all of the credits you need except for the 3-hour Capstone and a 1-hour Information Literacy course. With partnership pricing from POAG, it would cost about $3000 to finish your associate degree.
