The Math CLEPS Test is a big subject on this web site and seems to have caused a number of people a great deal of stress.

Here's my question to those of you who have already passed the test. I have never been good at math. In high school I barely passed Algebra - and that was over 20 years ago. As a professional person at work, the use of calculators has further alienated me from working with math problems.

Is this test passable for someone like me? On average, in college I'm a B+ student in all the other subjects - but mathematics is foreign to me. If you have a sense of where I'm coming from I'd like to hear from you. I have three classes left and I’d like to test out of all three and finally get my degree. Math is the challenge.

My plan is to get a tutor, watch videos and use this site.

What do you guys and gals think???

Did the Here's to your health test today. IC is all you need as you may have already read. There were some questions that were not on IC but half of those were common knowledge. The ones that were not covered were easily narrowed down to a 50/50 guess. I could have passed this cold but IC helped me be sure of an A. One question I didn't know was How many calories equals to a pound. I recommend this one for a good first try. I hope this helps. Please feel free to add other stuff I forgot.

5 more classes to AA in Management!

Since Excelsior does not participate in the Federal Student Aid Loan program (FAFSA), I can not apply for financial aid in the traditional manner.

Credit by Examination is cheap, but not free. How are you financing your undergrad. or advanced degree. Any suggestions?

At last, English Comp is up and running. It will prepare you for the multiple choice questions on the English Comp with or without Essay.

We would recommend taking the English Comp with Essay, since the mult-choice questions are much easier. Also, as long as you have some basic writing skills, it's very hard to fail the essay portion.

BY THE WAY--if anyone takes the Eng Comp with Essay exam and would be up for writing an article or a little guide on the essay portion, please do! I will post it up and give you credit for it.

I am so tired of feeling this way, even though I strongly believe in the knowledge and experience learned through work and life experience! I am *&*$ proud of what I have accomplished, but the shame and embarrassment thing still rears its ugly head occaisionally.

Having this forum to talk about our goals is such a lifesaver!

I basically landed my teaching job through the back door, with my employers knowing full well that my competencies were from a non traditional educational background, but it got awkward after awhile... I am at a private school that can set its own requirements for teachers, but still it's tough in the teacher's lounge sometimes, ya know?

I don't think I'll know more about music after this, but I do have more empathy and sympathy for diversity in educational background as well as the life long learning process.

I am so proud of all of us, and simply will not listen to discouraging or shaming comments about what we're doing at this point.

I see threads on here that state if you study the Instacert Practice test that you will do well. But I do not see a DSST study guide for it? Assuming(only) that Introduction to Computing is much like the Cleps version Information systems and computer applications I am to study that one? Going to try to take both of them with in the next month. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

I was doing some reading last night about forums and how they began, how they generally work, etc. I'm pretty new to this type of thing so thought I would do a little research. As such, what was the HIGHEST score on any exam where a plain old "50" would have been just as good as what you received?

Mine was a 72; the remainder all in the mid 60's to high 50's.

Hi all im a UOP student, I went back to school november 2005. With clep and transferring in my computer certifications and previous schooling, and the 6 or so classes i have taken im currently at 75 total credits.

If i would have known in October of last year what i have learned from this forum I would have saved sooo much money and probably be done with my undergrad degree by now.
My main concern is getting my undergrad out of the way so i can go get my MBA. I thought at the time and was told by counselors that the flexibility of going to the ground campus at JC, NJ would be my best bet.
Well it has been an awesome experience so far and my professors are all top notch.
However the price is crazyyyyyyyyy.
Im paying about 1425 a 3 credit class!
I have crap loads of APA papers i have to do, and crap loads of power point presentations!! Had I known I could get a liberal arts or business degree from execlsior by doing tests I would have gone that route.

Excelsior was actually my first choice since they are linked through the Microsoft certified professional web site as a microsoft partner benefit for MCPs.

My question is are there any students here from UoP that have any advice?
Any way to test out of UoPs upper level classes?
Im basically missing 12 upper level classes and will be stuck in school untill as late as May of 2007 and im DOUBLING UP!!!!

Would it be better to just transfer to Excelsior?
Do they have an IT major?
Basically I have almot 9 months of school left and 18,000 of loans that will accumalate if i stay here and im wondering if its really even worth it to stay here when my main goal is grad school?
Any advice or help will be appreciated guys sorry for the long ramble.
