UPI Study
#1
I wanted to start a thread for UPI Study (University Pathways International) transfer results, especially for TESU.
UPI has its own TESU transfer/equivalency page, and TESU also lists UPI as an approved provider:

UPI -> TESU:
https://www.upistudy.com/pages/tesu

TESU Approved Provider Directory:
https://www.tesu.edu/admissions/methods-...ectory.php

There are also some useful community-created transfer guides, including MajorMash:
https://www.majormash.com/

I signed up for UPI a while back mainly as a way to work through some of the Gen Ed gaps on my TESU evaluation. The lifetime-access option was a big reason I went with it because it takes some of the pressure off — I can work through courses at my own pace instead of worrying about a subscription clock.
There are also quite a few Computer Science courses I am interested in. Some would basically be repeating subjects I studied years ago, but most schools will no longer accept those older credits because of their age, so UPI could be a useful way to refresh the material and get current transferable credit at the same time.

One thing I have noticed is that the published TESU information still does not cover everything UPI offers. A number of the Gen Ed courses, including things like English Composition I and II, are not shown in some of the transfer information

UPI also shows two types of mappings:
  • Verified by TESU
  • Reviewed/recommended by UPI, but not yet TESU verified
I would especially like to hear from anyone who has transferred one of the UPI-reviewed but not TESU-verified courses. Did TESU actually award the equivalency UPI recommended, or did it come in differently?

A few courses I am personally most interested in seeing current TESU results for are:
  • Project Management
  • CS 373 – Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
  • CS 251 – Data Structures and Algorithms
  • CS 381 – Database Programming
  • CS 390 – Systems Analysis and Design
  • CS 354 – Introduction to Operating Systems
  • English Composition II
  • Physics I / Lab
For AI and Data Structures, I am especially interested in how they come in for upper-level credit and whether they can be useful in the CIS area. Even if they do not fit exactly where expected in CIS, upper-level computer-related credit could still be useful in something broader like the BS in Technical Studies.
Project Management is another one I am especially interested in because I have not seen a clear current TESU-verified mapping for it.
When I asked UPI about some of the newer courses earlier, I was told additional ACE/NCCRS reviews and updates were expected around August. At the time, several of the course/syllabus pages were showing pending review.

If anyone has recently transferred UPI courses to TESU, it would be useful to post:
UPI course -> UPI/MajorMash suggested equivalency (if any) -> actual TESU equivalency -> LL/UL -> where it applied
I am particularly interested in courses that are missing from the published list, are UPI-reviewed but not TESU-verified, or were evaluated differently than expected.

It would be useful to build up a current set of real transfer results for UPI rather than relying only on suggested mappings.

Basically, you're at the mercy of TESU's evaluation team, they're going to have to evaluate the classes that haven't been mapped and approved yet in the equivalency list. It's still a work in progress, in other words, a waiting game, I believe the UPI Study team is working to update the list once more classes get looked at...

Yeah, I see that UPI has updated the TESU list, and a lot of the common Gen Eds are now covered and marked as verified.

Physics I and Chemistry I are now on the verified list, which is good to see, but the separate Physics and Chemistry labs still are not listed.

I also still do not see English Composition I or II listed as TESU verified. I would expect those to transfer in some form given their current credit recommendations, but it would be nice to have the actual TESU equivalencies confirmed.

English Comp II is one I still need for most of the TESU bachelor’s options I am considering. I already have other writing credit from previous college work, including a writing equivalent and Business Writing, but those do not necessarily replace the specific English Composition II requirement.

Another good addition on the verified list is UPI Discrete Mathematics -> TESU COS-2610 Discrete Structures I. That is especially useful to know because TESU has both a more general Discrete Mathematics course and the Discrete Structures I / II sequence. So seeing exactly how UPI’s course is applied helps a lot when planning a degree that specifically requires Discrete Structures I rather than just any discrete-math credit.

Overall, the updated list is definitely getting better. Most of the basic Gen Ed coverage is starting to look pretty solid; the main things I would still like to see verified are English Comp I/II and the separate Physics/Chemistry labs.
