PhD in Applied Data Science - Eastern University

Yeah I am going to be 100% honest I have zero interest in a mix uni with a sus reputation that 84k (Jesus that too much money) with Eastern has a good reputation and is less than 15k. Not to mention they already have a decent master program so there a lot of hype for this PhD. That only true if they ever allow applicants lol.

I take everything on Reddit with a grain of salt. There have been several folks on here over the years that have attend University of the Cumberlands. It's a cute university - small, rural. I was actually there years before I joined here while on a vacation. We were trying to hit as many states as possible over a few days and we found the Cumberland Gap on the map. Thought it would be fun to check out. Drove to town and walked around. Saw the college campus on the map and was like hey let's go look. The town and campus was sooooo quiet. It was kind of eerie. I think we saw like 5 people while we were walking around both.

$84K for any doctorate without funding is crazy. But there are people who will spend it. Especially if one's employer is paying the tuition which does happen. GWU is a big research school so one would hope that there is some funding.

I am sure the university is nice but yeah unless you have funding 84k is insane and honestly if I am spending that amount of cash it have to be 100% give me a return on my investment like going to dental school that or have massive grants. My employer pays for my tuition but there are limits. Eastern is reasonable Cumberland lol no.

If you can get into Penn State, they have a much cheaper DEng, and you can choose AI as a specialization. They're also ranked much higher than GWU in engineering.

The guy who does the info sessions claims that their online engineering programs are ranked higher than their on-campus engineering programs. This is false, and I wish someone would stop him from spreading this misinformation. The online degree rankings on U.S. News are completely separate, and they're only comparing online programs to other online programs based on metrics that are specific to online delivery.

If you can get into Penn State, they have a much cheaper DEng, and you can choose AI as a specialization. They're also ranked much higher than GWU in engineering.

Penn State is a great school. I'm always checking out their World Campus page and I'm surprised by the sheer amount of offerings that they have. Up until now, I didn't know (or I forgot) that they have an Ed.D program via World Campus. I also find it interesting that there are more online Masters programs (54) compared to online Bachelors programs (40). I would have thought that there would be more to offer for undergrad than graduate, not considering Associates programs (7). 

University of Michigan has several online engineering programs. I would love too do their Master of Engineering in Global Automotive and Manufacturing Engineering:

but i would need to do a Bachelor in Engineering first. I have been considering doing the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electronics Systems Engineering Technology after graduating from their doctorate program:

Everyone here was right. Eastern is pushing the program back another year. As of now they are still showing $13,500 for the program. They have a link on the cite for an "interest form". I am not sure if anyone is currently in the program. Kinda interesting that they already have some other options finish:

• Certificate in Data Science
  
• Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Data Science
  

I wonder what the hold up for this program. I know when South College started there was about a month delay but not 2 whole years!! I guess I be going to WGU again for another masters while I wait for this program to start. I really want to start this program but if we start Fall 2027 the earliest is going to be Fall 2029 when we can finish. Not bad still if they can keep the program under 15k of course but still I want them to just let us apply for the thing.

We are still waiting, sadly. I want to apply as soon as it comes out, but for now I have to wait sadly.
