Where should I post my request for help?
Posted by: dbdtw - 12-26-2013, 02:46 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

I am drafting a fairly long post detailing my educational progress and goals, and I am looking for some feedback, advice, and answers to a bunch of questions I have. The main focus of my questions will be the big 3 and WGU, but I'd also like some feedback from forum members who have experience with SNHU, ASU, FHSU, U of Wisconsin Flex, Northern Arizona U, etc. Should I submit this post to this discussion area (Gen Ed and Testing), the Big 3 area, or should I make 2 separate posts?

Thanks for helping us newbs out.

Danny

  Can Someone Explain FEMA Classes
Posted by: empowered2teach - 12-26-2013, 04:38 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi All! I'm new to CLEP tests, but I've recently passed the US Government and planning to take the US History this February. I've got a question, though about FEMA. I've noticed that many on this list have taken the courses. Would someone explain when one should seek out these courses? Are they just fillers for extra credit towards graduation? Or are they degree specific (and applicable) classes only? Thanks in advance!

So far towards BA in Liberal Arts:

  Air University Online
Posted by: frankshorey - 12-26-2013, 02:57 AM - Forum: Military Discussion - Replies (2)

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the courses that can be taken through Air University Online that are worth college credit. I have an account to prepare for the SpaceTEC Aerospace Maintenance Technician exam and saw that there are some courses that are ACE accredited. What would I have to do to get college credit for those courses. Any advice is appreciated.

  TESC Course Time Requirements
Posted by: UptonSinclair - 12-25-2013, 10:20 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (1)

I would love to hear about TESC online course time requirements from those who have taken courses through TESC. As I work out a possible plan, I am not sure how many credits to budget for based on time demands. I typically plan for 3 hours a week per credit, but my experience with other colleges has varied greatly.

COSC GRE + upper level labs
Posted by: SliGirl - 12-25-2013, 06:16 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (3)

So I am new and I have been stalking the forum for a bit. I have an AS degree in biotechnology and I have taken a couple stabs at finishing my BS at a B n M school with no luck, but I need a Bachelors in a science to move up at work.

I thought about TESC natural science and math, but I am curious about COSC Biology. Specifically the GRE option. But I can't find the other classes I would need, the 2 UL labs. I was hoping one of the gurus could point me the right way

This is the requirement:

Option 2: The GRE Subject Test in Biology, evaluated at 24 credits (15 lower, 9 upper), and at least 12 additional credits that must include two upper level laboratory courses and the 3-credit capstone.

Need input on (possible) BA Computer Science at TESC - Plan included
Posted by: UptonSinclair - 12-25-2013, 05:21 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (10)

I am getting close to finishing my BSLS at Excelsior, but I am curious how close I would be to a BA in Computer Science. I know that many of my credits are out of the norm, but any input on the general education placements would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know if computer technology courses (networking, database, etc) count toward computer science electives? Requirements are in bold and courses are plain text.

  Straighterline Ethers Propero

Sorry about the slang term. Ether is used when someone verbally humiliates an opponent or wins a diss battle. It comes from Nas' diss track "Ether" where he annihilates Jay Z in a rap battle. When I googled Propero, this page from Straighterline came up in the results.

Nearly 100% Test Out Plan for BSBA at TESC
Posted by: sanantone - 12-24-2013, 11:01 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (2)

Since this has become popular, especially at DegreeInfo oddly enough, I decided to notify potentially interested members and lurkers of some of the changes I've made. I clarified which tests count as management, accounting, finance, and marketing since you're supposed to have at least 3 different subjects in the area of study/specialization. I also added that 12 UL credits are required in the area of study. The new UL requirements apply to all BSBA programs. When I have the time, even though these specializations include 1 or 2 courses that don't have any alternative options (CBE, Straighterline, Penn Foster, etc.), I just might make BSBA test out plans for marketing, accounting, human resources management, and computer information systems.

Does anyone know if Straighterline "Intro to Environment Science" satisfies the science requirement for the bsba in management degree?..
