TESC bachelor's with no transfer credits? Plan? Help! |

Hi All,
My apologies if this question is redundant. I've been lurking for a while and out of desperation am now posting this question. Here goes:
Has anyone (or does anyone know a way that I can?) completely tested out for their Bachelors of Arts (in Psych/Art/or Philosophy or at TESC with no college transcript for transfer?) It seems most people have college credits to apply to the degree beforehand and I lack that. In short, both of my parents passed during my first year of college a few years ago and I flunked out before the second semester of Freshman year. I have no credits to transfer. I'm trying to start over now.
Where do I begin? Which CLEP (or test in general) do I take first? I am sorry in advance for a seemingly lazy question, but I'm surprisingly overwhelmed with the abundance of information and "plans" on the appropriate approaches to attaining the degree, and also a little lost because none of these venues I've found seem to be utilized by people who are starting completely from scratch like myself.
I really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance so much.

Two Bachelor's in different areas of study? |

Assuming they are NOT in the same area of study, and they wouldn't be completed simultaneously, would it look silly to receive two Bachelor's? For instance, a BSBA and a B.A.. I've heard the advice "Save that money and go for a Master's", but I'm just trying to evaluate my current options, and if I ever do go for a Master's, it would be WAY down the road. To sum it up, my question is this: Would it look redundant to receive two Bachelor's, although one would be a science and the other an art? Should it even matter? Thanks!

Hello,
I have no college credit and am interested in testing out of a bachelors degree in psychology or business and moving to a masters program in Marriage and Family Therapy. My only options for a advanced degree in MFT are from Northwestern University, Capella and Northcentral. I have asked all these schools if they would accept students who graduated from these schools and they give me cookie cutter answers, "We consider any student who has the minimum required GPA from a regionally accredited school."
I'm curious how they actually judge these 3 schools and if I test out of most of the degree, if that makes a difference. Does anybody have any experience getting into a good masters program after testing out of a bachelors degree from one of the big 3?
PS. I may want a Bachelors in business instead of psychology because I can see the benefit of having a business degree if I choose to open a private practice.

Major Change in Career Test Results |

Four or five years ago, I took the Dewey Color System Color Career Indicator Test. It's supposed to be extremely accurate, but I took the test again today and received very different results. IIRC, when I first took the tests, I was attracted to the bright colors. This time around, I was attracted to the cooler colors (as opposed to warm colors). I still think my results were accurate the first time around; it's just that I'm older and have been exposed to many new things.
When I first took the test, I had already been a computer science, business, and criminal justice major. I was also working in private security. These were my top 25 results.
1 Policeman or Patrol Officer
2 General or Operations Manager
3 Fire Fighter
4 Network and Computer Systems Administrator
5 Computer Equipment or Operations Specialist
6 Automotive Body or Repairer
7 Legal Secretary or Support Assistant
8 Marketing or Advertising Manager
9 Artist-Fine, Craft, Multi-Media, or Animator
10 Computer Software Engineer
11 Athlete or Coach
12 Engineer
13 Truck Driver, Heavy or Tractor-Trailer
14 Computer Programmer
15 Graphic Designer
16 Social Worker
17 Office/Administrative Manager or Supervisor
18 Computer Support Specialist
19 Manager Service Industry
20 Human Resource, Training, or Labor Relation Specialist
21 Secondary School Teacher (not special or vocational education)
22 Bookkeeping, Accounting or Auditing Clerk
23 Customer Service Representative
24 Employment, Recruitment, or Placement Specialist
25 Reg School Nurse
Since then, I have discovered that I will probably never make it through a computer programming course, and that psychology and the health sciences are more interesting than criminal justice. I've also developed a strong interest in higher education and natural healthcare. For the past couple of years, I've been wishing I were younger and had less student loan debt so that I could pursue a career as a nurse practitioner. My work experience since that first test included being a security supervisor, working in a civilian position for a law enforcement agency, and teaching college courses. These are my results from today.
1 HEALTH CARE: Registered Nurse
2 MANAGEMENT: CEO, Chief Executive Officer
4 SUPPORT SERVICES: Child, Family or School Social Worker
5 EDUCATION: Elementary School Teacher (not special education)
6 LEGAL: Legal Secretary or Support Assistant
7 SUPPORT SERVICES: Bookkeeping, Accounting or Auditing Clerk
8 MANAGEMENT: Manager Service Industry
9 EDUCATION: Teacher Assistant
10 SUPPORT SERVICES: Executive Secretary or Administrative Assistant
11 ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORTIVE: Office/Administrative Manager or Supervisor
12 SUPPORT SERVICES: Social Worker
13 EDUCATION: Preschool teacher (not special education)
14 EDUCATION: Secondary School Teacher (not special or vocational education)
15 DESIGN: Artist-Fine, Craft, Multi-Media, or Animator
16 SUPPORT SERVICES: Customer Service Representative
17 EDUCATION: Educational, Vocational, or School Counselor
18 SUPPORT SERVICES: Counselor
19 SUPPORT SERVICES: Receptionist or Information Clerk
20 OPERATIONS: Accountant or Auditor
21 ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORTIVE: Human Resource, Training, or Labor Relation Specialist
22 OPERATIONS: Tax Examiner, Collector, or Revenue Agent
23 MANAGEMENT: Marketing or Advertising Manager
24 HEALTH CARE: Medical Assistant
25 SOCIAL SCIENTISTS: Psychologist
The bolded occupations are overlapped. For some reason, #3 on the second set of results came up blank. After a Google search of the numbers that did show up, I think it's General and Operations Manager which would be another overlap.

Hi All - First time poster. Thanks in advance for help. I'm trying to help my hubby put together a degree plan to finally get his bachelors. He has past credit (off & on & some from 10+ years ago) that's scattered so he'd really like to make as much of it count as possible so he can finish his degree as quick as he can. Hoping to test out of as much as possible too so he can work quickly (and cheaply). I know there are a lot of different options but given his interests and his past credits we're not sure if a BSBA or a History degree are going to be best route. Open to both (or something else you might suggest).
Below are existing credits he has. Crapper that all were through a school on the quarter system at the time so I'm really scratching my head at how they will transfer in. That's really where we could use this forum's help!!! (everything listed below has already been converted into semester hours ... he earned the hours at Univ of Cincinnati who has since converted to semesters so the transcript shows semester hours) - just sucks most classes are in increments of just 2hrs & not 3hrs):
Anth 101 - Cultural Anthropology (2hrs)
Bio 108 - Biology in the Human Context (3.3 hrs)
Comm 171 - Public Speaking (2 hrs)
Edfn (education fundamentals) 131 - Science, Technology, and Professional Development (2.7 hrs)
Eng 101 - freshman english (2 hrs)
Eng 102 - English Comp 2 (2 hrs)
Geol 101 - Intro to geology (2 hrs)

Hist 111 - Am History 1820 - 1920 (2 hrs)
Hist 114 - European Civilization 1500 - 1800 (2 hrs)
Hist 113 - European Civilization 1000 - 1500 (2 hrs)
Hist 115 - European Civilization 1800-pre (2 hrs)
Hist 300 - Introl to History (2 hrs)

Psyc 110 - Human Sexuality (2 hrs)
Soc 141 - Intro to Sociology (2 hrs)
Soc 142 - Intro to Sociology 2 (2 hrs)
Total - 52 hours
Thanks so much in advance. Really looking forward to any help from all the experts on here.
