Hey all,
So i heard back from my mentor at Empire State University and it looks like I could potentially only need some upper level requirements to obtain my Bachelors. After a back and forth with my mentor and explaining each of my million transcripts this looks like my verdict.
Here is what my mentor sent me. Looks like I need these three areas in upper level to complete my degree. Does anyone happen to know where I can obtain these classes non traditionally. They have taken lots of my credits from fema, ace, etc..
As always thanks all,
Mike

Quote:Michael, I consulted with a colleague in Public Affairs and she gave some recommendations for the guidelines you need to meet. You need to meet 31 credits at ESC, you have 26 already. However, you need 45 advanced level credits and you have 34. Classes you need to take:

- A study in ECONOMIC, FINANCIAL OR BUDGETARY ISSUES (advanced)
- COMMUNICATIONS (advanced)
- RESEARCH SKILLS AND INFORMATION ANALYSIS (advanced)
Let me know how many classes you plan to take so we can look at the options.
LEFT BELOW ARE THE GUIDELINES YOU NEED TO MEET. Right in bold are the courses you have done that meet the guideline or that you still need to complete.
THEORETICAL AND PHILISOPHICAL CONCEPTS: Intro to Law Enforcement? Potentially Policing a Democracy?
HISTORICAL AND COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVES: Intro to Law Enforcement? Policing a Democracy?
SOCIAL CONTEXT: Intro to sociology (though this is limited) maybe Conflict Resolution?
LEGAL AND POLICY ENVIRONMENT: Criminal Law, Procedural Law, Substantive Law, Conflict Resolution
ECONOMIC, FINANCIAL OR BUDGETARY ISSUES: I don't see anything here. Does he have any prior learning in working on budgets? He would have to argue why he doesn't have anything re: this guideline in his degree program. INTRO TO ECONOMICS works here YOU NEED TO MEET THIS REQUIREMENT
ETHICS VALUES AND DIVERSITY: Policing Special Populations; RACE, CRIME AND LAW, ETHICAL FOUNDATIONS IN PUBLIC SERVICE. Potentially Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct
COMMUNICATIONS: Did he work on communication skills/writing in all courses - which ones
RESEARCH SKILLS AND INFORMATION ANALYSIS: which courses did he have opportunity to do research projects YOU NEED TO MEET THIS REQUIRMENT
TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE: Bioterrorism, Intro to Statistics
