Advice for Masters in Counseling
#1
Hello! I am wondering if someone can help guide me into obtaining a Masters in Counseling degree on a direct and time/cost effective way? I currently have an associates and will list the credits I already have below. I am considering a few options as far as an undergrad: interior design, business management, psychology, or neuroscience. I would like to take the path that makes the most sense as far as time and money. I'd like to be able to use CLEP for as many classes as possible. I am already registered and accepted to TESU. Please see below for my other credits and thank you so much for your time.

I know a counselor who did a BS in psychology then a MSW. I have looked into graduate counseling degrees and have considered going back for psychology undergrad programs to help build a foundation. WGU (6th month term for $4,210) and UMPI (8 week term that costs $1,800) both have psychology CBE programs - the faster/harder you work the cheaper the degree will be (I don't know if TESU has CBE programs, I don't know much about that university).

Personally, I think your undergrad choice should be something to prepare you for a demanding graduate counseling program and reflect your career goals, i.e. if you wanted to run a counseling office someday, maybe a undergrad business degree could be the better choice, or if you wanted to do mental health counseling maybe choosing psychology as it will give you a foundation of the psychological sciences.
