Advice for my case
#1
Hi everyone,

My situation is I submitted Bachelor's transcript to CPA broad to get evaluation and unfortunately only 113 credits out of 120 got accepted. I just learn that Texas allows you to sit for CPA exam with just 120 credits not 150 anymore.

So if I take a master degree with WGU do you think that I would qualify to sit for the exam?

After finish the Master degree, do I still need to earn 7 credits for the license if I pass the CPA test?

Thank you Smile Smile

30+113>120. Get confirmation from the board. You may need a certain amount of accounting and business credits.

Welcome to the board, I highly recommend filling us in with all the info requested on the addendum and template: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works

Wouldn't it be easier to complete a few more credits in accounting at the institution you're going to be graduating from? It'll probably be cheaper, easier, faster than completing an entire Masters from WGU.

Without knowing what credits are not accepted and what specific courses are required, there's no way to answer your question. Before enrolling in a master's program anywhere you need to make sure that it includes the specific required courses for the CPA licensing in your state.

I'm sure a Master's degree would do it, but you really just need 7 more undergrad credits. Find out what you're missing from their point of view, then take those courses. If you tell us what the missing classes need to be, and where you did your bachelor's, we can help further.
NanoDegree: Intro to Self-Driving Cars (2019)
Coursera: Stanford Machine Learning (2019)
TESU: BA in Comp Sci (2016)

A master's degree may not do it. Depends on the state. In my state there are 33 specific credits required in 11 very specific courses. One of the required courses I'm not even sure where you could take the class. I agree that figuring out what the needed and missing courses are is a better way to go than completing a master's hoping that it's enough.

In Texas, 120 credits lets you sit for the CPA exam, but it does not let you become a licensed CPA.  For that you still need 150 hours.

Considering how quick and cost-effective it is to earn additional undergraduate credits, it makes sense to complete the full 150 credit hours during your bachelor’s degree, since there’s no guarantee you’ll pursue a master’s degree later.
