I am scheduled to take the English Composition with Essay on June 21st. English is not my strong point. I have been out of school for 24 years. I did not like English when I was in school.
I have been using the IC Flash cards, REA and Peterson's. I am only scoring in the 36% in the REA and Peterson's. I have been using the IC flash cards mainly. I am just worried that I have only used the IC flashcards so much, that I have memorized most of the answers. I even purchased the College Board English composition and did not do well on that either. I need to get at least a 50 in order for my school to accept it. I just do not want to fail the exam and end up taking at campus anyway. Any advice????

Iâm in the same boat. I will take English Composition with Essay on the 18th, 5
days.
My practice scores are low. I havenât had time to write any practice essays. My plan is to study like a mad woman until Friday. I will continue to read all advice from other users. Then at test time I will do the best that I can. Unfortunately, I donât have any constructive advice. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

You might try going to the bookstore or library and getting a practice SAT book - do the grammer sections-I found them to be similar.
Then google up 5 paragraph essay, practice as many as you can. I wrote many practice ones and used the exact same format and transition words for each (intro,firstly,secondly, in conclusion) Just use a good structure. I am a terrible writer but somehow managed a pass with a very short essay of 5 small paragraphs. Practice the grammer I didn't feel that that IC was enough for that section. Good Luck

I just took the English Comp w/o essay today. My school does not accept the test with the essay because it is considered easier. (or so they say) The multiple choice varied in difficulty but if you have gone through the IC flash cards enough times, and read the reasons behind the answers, you will be fine. I mainly used IC with a quick overview of the Peterson's this morning and I scored a 68. I will say that some of the structure in the actual test seemed to be more aligned with the Peterson's format, but mainly I just tried to read carefully before clicking. I needed the entire 90 minutes alloted, but I did answer all of the questions.
Oh and I had been out of school for about 20 years before I started back this time.

I have changed my plan for talking English Comp. I do not feel ready. Instead I plan on taking English though Straightliner, and transfer to ACE. I hope this will work. I suppose worse case I can take the class. Thank you all for your advice.
